Dragon's Dogma update corrupts save data, warns Capcom

Firm advises gamers to copy save file to external storage device

Capcom has issued a warning to Dragon's Dogma players that the recent Title Update patch is corrupting save data.

"A number of users have encountered an unforeseen issue with a recent downloadable Title Update (patch)," said the firm in a statement. "The TU, in some cases, has caused players' DD save data to become corrupted, meaning the game will no longer save or load their game progress."

The issue is affecting players of both the original Dragon's Dogma on Xbox 360 and the recently released Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for PS3.

While Capcom works on a fix, it advises players to copy working saved data files onto an external storage device or cloud "whenever possible", particularly "if you are picking up the game for the first time in awhile or switching over to Dark Arisen for the first time".

It adds, "If you experience repeated issues with your save data becoming corrupt, please try playing the game offline while we investigate the issue. We're exploring the issue currently and hope to have a solution as quickly as possible. Many apologies for the inconvenience."

yeah i have been reading this on the Capcom forums, seems its more people who transferred their save over from DD to DA who are getting the problems

I started a new game with Dark Arisen and have not come across any problems yet, downloaded the patch on release day(last Friday)

Yeah, I did the same and I haven't come across any problems despite playing it for the bulk of the weekend, so it does look like its more to do with the transfer of Data. Still, its unfortunate for everyone who had been holding onto their high-level characters ready for the new content.

Same here, i have had no problems. Though i do save my data to the cloud on PS3 as i have PS Plus, so this might be the reason i dont have any issues....

I bought the digital copy of the game and I already had the original, no problems at all. loaded the game and it started exactly where I left off with my level 117 character, should I still back up the save file?

I would, better to be safe than sorry.

I've played a good few hours through Bitterblack Isle from my original DD character, no problems so far. I'm gonna do a back up save just in case though.
