Would they really need another disc for MGS1 & Virtual missions? It could be on the disc with 2,3, and Peace Walker?

Hopefully it is though, it would be nice to have them all in the one package.

I was unsure whether Peace Walker and MGS2/3 were on 1 disc as i bought them for the 360(so 2 discs)and knew the Japanese PS3 versions were separate releases altogether

Do you know how much information a Blu-ray disc can hold? MGS1 would take up one of the furthest corners of the disc and still have room for every other MG title, all bar MGS4.
This is not to say that a download code won't be included for the title, but the two discs is certainly not an indication it won't be included on disc.

I suppose but hopefully it isn't just a DL code tied to an account, a physical disc would be ideal and wouldn't be a problem for the blu ray space and maybe they might put it on the next Xbox? Wii U? Since their media is similar...I think.

Ah, there in lies the problem.

Infact if you look at disc one, you can see (on the left) what looks to be a list of MG titles and on the 2 disc only one (which may be MGS4)

Maybe at a stretch the next xbox, but would be hard work porting MGS4, due to radically different architecture, even if its rumored to include blu-ray.
Wii U most probably not as that thing doesn't even support DVD let alone Blu-ray and i'm not sure how much information a single Wii U disc can hold, but again also due to differences in architecture.

If MGS4 isn't included in the collection, then maybe.

Unfortunately Ken Imaizumi confirmed that MGS1 was the PSN version downloadable through a voucher code. No disc, no HD port, no trophy patch.

Still, it's a nice collection of some of the finest games of the last 3 gens of consoles and handhelds. But it's lacking this je-ne-sais-quoi that would've made it an instant buy :?

Wii U discs hold 25GB but can be muti layered.

It may take a bit of work but it wouldn't be impossible for it to arrive on other consoles.
The biggest challenge would be porting MGS4

I'd have hoped Nintendo could have made a deal where they allow MGS Twin Snakes to be on other consoles in exchange for a collection like this. I'm dreaming but It would be nice if we all got it. Third party exclusives should just stop and be multi platform in my opinion.

Still not the ultimate collection then. Missing MGS: Twin Snakes, MGS 2: Substance which had extra Snake missions and MGS 3: Subsistence.

I know Kojima doesn't count Twin Snakes as Metal Gear canon though.

Aren't the Metal Gear games in the HD collection Substance and Subsistence?

    Jus sayin...

Kind of reeks of trying to just get every penny out of their devoted fan base if they don't even include MGS on a disc.

Sadly not, I've got the HD collection but they dont have the extra missions and such. Unless they're somewhere in the options and I've missed them. (runs of to boot up the game)
