Mushroomy Kingdom to appear in Brawl

Not quite the level 1-1 you remember though...

A stage that recreates the original layout of levels 1-1 and 1-2 in the original Super Mario Bros. game will be included within Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the official website stated today.

Four screenshots depict the new take on the levels, with 1-1 having apparently turned to ruins over the years. Looking over the shots, we think they don't know the difference between ruins and a muted colour palette.

The backgrounds do look quite nice however and it's always fun to give in to nostalgia once in a while, so long as you don't go so far as to cry out, "They've ruined my childhood" when the smallest thing is changed.

If you're prone to doing that, you might want to avoid the other reveal on the website. To accompany the Mushroomy Kingdom stage, an excerpt of the re-recording of the original 1.1 music has been released.

The track, which serves as the theme for the stage, has been arranged by Mr. Koji Kondo, the creator of the music for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

We're probably in the minority here, but listening to it is a bit like having a phone call with a good friend you haven't seen in a while. Except that his voice is drowned out by the crooning of a housemate singing along to Mika on the radio. Let us know what you think below.

Koji Kondo's music is normally pretty good, so I trust him to remix the original.

I love how that theme has been a recurring feature in Mario games since the beginning of the series. It's just so catchy it's unbelievable.

Didn't really like that compostition, either. Who was the guy that did the stuff for Galaxy? Get him to do it. That music rocked my socks!

Or the NiGHTS chap. Say what you want about the game, but the music was awesome.

I was thinking the same, Maybe a Wii ware title ?
Either that or a brand new 2D mario adventure, with 'real world' textures like that would be awesome

Rather odd that CVG refer to Koji Kondo as "the composer for Smash Bros Brawl", rather than the composer of the original Super Mario Bros theme.

There is no official single composer for Brawl - the list goes on for miles. Strikes me as CVG not knowing their stuff again!

Nintendo is a master of bait-n-switch tactics. Everytime a delay is announced, they release some new feature or detail that quells the fanboys.

"WTF! Delayed agai.... oooooo, mushroom kingdom!"

Sheep... and it's sad that CVG finds this tripe news worthy.
