The Diplomat welcomes unsolicited articles, essays and blog entries. Preference will be given to op-eds and original on-the-ground reporting.
Submissions for one of our blog sections should range between 400 and 800 words, while op-eds and reporting features can be anywhere from 700 words up. In the case of original reporting we recommend first pitching articles ideas to the editor. In all cases, footnotes are discouraged in favor of hyperlinks embedded in the text. Those seeking compensation for articles should indicate clearly in their pitch whether remuneration is being sought, and whether the article has been published elsewhere. Any payment must be agreed by the editor in advance.
