Company to stream series based on Meme Higashiya's 4-panel manga worldwide outside Japan

Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream the anime adaptation of Meme Higashiya's four-panel manga Recorder to Randoseru (Recorder and Backpack) worldwide outside Japan. The series will premiere on January 5 and will be available on Crunchyroll at 12:30 p.m. EST.

The manga revolves around Atsushi Miyagawa and his sister Atsumi Miyagawa. Atsushi looks like an adult at 180 centimeters (about 71 inches) tall, but he is actually an elementary school boy. Atsumi looks like a little girl at 137 centimeters (54 inches) tall, but she is actually in high school. The manga launched in Takeshobo's Manga Club Original magazine in 2007, and it also runs in Takeshobo's Manga Life Original magazine.

Hiroshi Kimura (episode director: Gungrave, Naruto Shippūden) is directing the series off of Ryou Karasuma's (Morita-san wa Mukuchi) scripts at the animation studio Seven (Morita-san wa Mukuchi). Naruyo Takahashi (Divergence Eve, Fafner) is adapting Higashiya's characters for animation. Rie Kugimiya and Ryotaro Okiayu will star as Atsumi and Atsushi.
