    But the maximum sentence for rape is 6 years in Russia. How can it even be *possible* to jail them for 7 years for "hooliganism"? How can rape be considered a lesser crime than offending someone's religious views?

    The majority of my acquaintances divides policy and religion. Many don't vote on elections, but go to church. Pussy Riot offended their religious feelings, instead of political.
