Australia have sent delegations to the Paralympic Games since their inception in 1960 in Rome and have set 21 world records, 31 Paralympic records, 79 Australian records and 164 personal bests. Their best ever Paralympics were in 2000 when Syndey was host city, topping the medal table with their highest gold medal count ever of 63. However, they had their best-ever medal count of 154 in 1984. Tim Sullivan has won the most medals for Australia with a total of 10 gold in athletics, collected over three Games (2000, 2004, 2008).
