Marathon

Tickets are not required for vast stretches of the Marathon route, so spectators will be able to watch for free. Please note that The Mall is only accessible to ticket holders.

The Marathon events are expected to see the streets of London packed with passionate fans, and has many excellent vantage points close to some stunning and unique attractions. As it's an outdoor event, spectators are advised to come prepared for all types of weather conditions.

Due to road closures, parking suspensions and the large numbers of spectators anticipated, London 2012 is encouraging people to walk, cycle or use public transport to make access to the events as easy as possible. If you live in London, try to watch the event close to home. Spectators who are travelling from further afield should book early and stay in local accommodation.

Further information on watching the events, including maps, travel advice and top tips for spectators, will be posted on these pages closer to the Games – so keep checking back for details.
