The purpose of the Vendor Advisory Council (VAC) is to provide a neutral forum in which member companies can discuss shared issues, collaborate on projects of common interest and cooperatively direct funds to open source development community activities and members.

The VAC includes some of the most knowledgeable and influential of our members. It is with their guidance that The Linux Foundation is able to ensure that our workgroups and events achieve the collaborative and progressive results that help improve the Linux platform. The current VAC Chair is Alan Clark of SUSE.

Feedback Requested For Vendor Advisory Council (VAC) Role in 2013

In 2012 the VAC focused on educating members about new and exciting technologies and discussing issues that impacted the Linux platform. In 2013, we would like to expand the role of the VAC and would encourage you to send us your feedback. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please email us.

Purpose of VAC Meetings:

  • Educate VAC members on latest Linux innovations and technologies
  • Discuss the technical challenges for these technologies
  • Determine how best to market/promote these innovations and the Linux platform to the public

Representatives from the End User Council (EUC) and the Technical Advisory Board(TAB) will participate quarterly to provide summaries on any topics that they feel require VAC input or support. We strongly encourage our member companies to participate.
