MOSCOW, April 7 (RIA Novosti) – A member of Afghanistan’s High Peace Council and the Paktia tribal council head was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the northern Kunduz province, Pajhwok news agency reported on Sunday, citing local officials.
Mirza Ali Tanai was killed by two motorcyclists late on Saturday evening in the provincial capital of Kunduz. He came under attack while on his way home, the governor's spokesman said.
Tanai was an influential ex-jihadi commander helping the government on security issues, the spokesman said, adding an investigation into the murder was underway.
