Contest: CD Giveaway - Imani Winds, "Terra Incognita"
Terra Incognita is the fifth album by woodwind quintet Imani Winds
since their Grammy nominated debut release in 2005. Named for the first piece Wayne Shorter has ever written for another
ensemble, the set also features unique compositions by jazz greats Jason
Moran and Paquito D'Rivera, the latter of whom joins the Imani Winds on his own
piece on clarinet, along with pianist Alex Brown.
Each piece on the album reimagines the definition of standard American chamber music by incorporating colorful harmonic language and, especially in the case of the title track, a unique perspective on structure.
