Snow to be next Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC character

FF XIII series character to be joined by new boss monster as Coliseum Battle opponents and recruitable characters.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 fans in Japan can look forward to fighting against and playing as spiky-haired pugilist Snow and a new centaur creature in the near future. Square Enix recently announced on Famitsu (via Andriasang) that the Snow and Valfodr DLC will be available for download on Japan XBLA and PSN online stores this May 15.

Players will get to play a new episode featuring the Final Fantasy XIII character, as well as find out the origins behind the Coliseum and Snow's mission as a L'Cie agent. Gamers will also need to fight off the monster Valfodr throughout the course of the episode; for every defeat the beast suffers, it gets stronger and will have new weapon, magic, and summoning abilities. According to series director Motomu Toriyama, Valfodr was added in the game to serve as a final boss for the Coliseum.

Once defeated, Snow and Valfodr can serve as monster party members for main characters Serah and Noel. The former is classified as a melee Commando type, while the latter serves as a Ravager type with stats akin to a Commando. Valfodr also can learn spells like Hellflame, Hellspark, Hellstorm, and Hellfreezer.

There is currently no official word on whether the DLC will be made available outside of Japan. For more information on Final Fantasy XIII's other DLC, head to GameSpot's recent coverage.

I just want them to finish the story..... but new DLC is, for once in my life, a good sign.. that they may finish it actually.

Snow??? Don't be surprised if Square named a future F. Fantasy main character as Rainbow, with Sunshine as a boss and Moondrops as the boss' minion.

So SquareEnix is going to become another Capcom. Having characters from the 1st game as DLC. What's next? The ending?

Why didn't they set this up beforehand? To be honest this is completely useless, i've finished the game w/plat trophy, what more is there?

Screw this game. FFXIII-2 took what good ideas there were in FFXIII and made everything worse.

i agree all this dlc is pointless. But was the battle system in XIII really that bad? I found it fun and dynamic.

Having a character from the same universe as DLC! Oh boy, this game was way better than FFX-2, I mean, THAT game had no DLC at all....I wonder why? (if you're gonna reply with a technical answer, just get out)

@TheGreatXL its developers from japan for some reason they are trying to make their games appeal more to western gamers when infact we love them how they are because they arent like western games i mean how many FPS games come out of japan compared to the west? look at resident evil they went into 3rd person which actually worked nicely but for resi5 forgot the game was meant to be survival horror

hopefully now theyve finished with FF13 now and are ready to try a different combat system and a different setting i swear if i see ff13-3......... oh and WTF happened to versus? there wasnt a lot of info on it in the first place but now its been so long its not looking good

I remember when Square was the undisputed champion of RPGs. No one could beat them at making quality games. It just seems like they failed to keep up with the times... :(

Seriously? Snow is going to make the game better now?

I agree that Squeenix has taken quite a fall. The whole 'bringing in new blood and testing new ideas' thing hasn't really had a positive effect. Keep an eye on Mistwalker though..

I don't think they've announced "officially" most of the dlc for the west, it just sort of comes out and we get what we get. They also throw in a random weapon or outfit dlc without even hinting at it. It's been a bit of a cluster.

"The words "Final Fantasy" and "DLC" just don't get along" Typical FF fan here who believes the franchise took a low blow with XIII and got KOed with XIV. And the name Square Enix is for Japan only now. The western name is Eidos.

Well I was expecting the Snow DLC at some point, they left a few questions in the game (like why or how he ended up with the whole l'cie thing again, and don't complain about spoilers because it's mentioned in the article). Hopefully, if they're going to finish the ending as a DLC they'll do it soon before it's been so long since I played the main game I forget what anything's about.

Welcome back, Snow! It's been a long time since I beat FFXIII two years ago. Time to get that DLC next month!
