Final Fantasy XIII-2 OST on sale this December

Four-disc album to be sold a day before game's release in Japan.

GameSpot Sound Byte

Based on GameSpot's previous coverage of the upcoming role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII-2, the game will feature a varied soundtrack that is quite different from its prequel. Therefore, Square Enix announced on its official website that it will be selling the game's OST in physical form on December 14 in Japan, which is one day before the game's release in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The OST will be split into four discs. Gamers in Japan can choose to buy either the standard version for 3,990 yen or a limited version for 4,800, which includes a bonus DVD. Role-playing fans can check out a few samples of the OST on the official page. There isn't any word on whether the OST will be available as a digital download.

For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's recent preview.

    Mr. Uematsu is credited on this one and can tell the difference of his track compared to the others.

    The OST will be split into four dics for 3,990 yen or 4,800 yen (+ DVD). Pretty slick! I may have to import this depending on the reviews of this OST. I agree @NoLifeGamin that it would be great to hear Uematsu's work, he's amazing.

    XIII had a great soundtrack and I've already heard some samples from this soundtrack and it sounds great.

    I think I will hold on to the money I would spend for this and buy FF Type-0 instead

    Listened to the samples and there's some real winners in there. But whoever thought it was a good idea to include vocal tracks in the OST needs to be shot in the face. Vocal tracks do not belong in a FF game. And if you must include them, they should be in the credits or trailers only. I heard at least 3 vocal tracks out of those samples. One of them even had some dude rapping. Why SE? Why would you do that?

    OST is nice, but I still would like to see some PSN avatars. I already have Serah as my gamertag picture(yes, I got all of the achievements just for that lovely avatar ).

    @HollowNinja
    They will...as part of the collector's edition of the game. I believe Square Enix themselves will also sell it separately, which is how I bought the FF XIII OST. I don't like most of its music, but to me, it's still a collector's item.

    Wow a soundtrack that is almost expensive as the game

    Hopefully they'll sell it here. XIII had a great soundtrack.

    Meh, listened to the samples on their website and it doesn't capture me like the soundtrack from VII and, to a lesser extent, VIII and IX.

    This is OK for properly die hard fans willing to pay separately for the OST, but what about when you buy the entire game - surely the OST could EASILY be put on there and included with it? After all, the music is on the disc already for the game, they just need to make it playable and/or extractable from the disc when put in a DVD/BR drive to read it.

    Final Fantasy has some of the best soundtrack.

    probably the only good thing left in final fantasy and you can get it separately from the game that plays itself. it's a win win situation!
