Status of Embedded Linux
Date: 3:40pm, Tuesday, September 28th Tim will describe the current state of embedded Linux, focusing on recent improvements to the mainline Linux kernel, including kernel versions released in the last year. Also, Tim will discuss the latest news about features, technology, and distributions used in embedded products. The audience is Linux developers who want to see what will be coming down the road for them as they start working with the latest Linux kernels. The level to technical expertise required will be medium to high.

Tim Bird, Sony CorporationTim Bird is a Senior Staff Engineer for Sony Corporation, where he helps Sony put Linux into their products. Tim is also the Chair of the Architecture Group of the CE Linux Forum, a trade organization that works to improve Linux for use in Consumer Electronics products. In this position, Tim directs the technical initiatives of the forum, and encourages companies to publish their improvements to Linux and participate in the open source community. Tim has been working with Linux for over 18 years, and is a regular speaker at industry and community events on a variety of embedded Linux topics. » Website |
