LinuxCon Japan 2013 | LinuxCon Staging

Learn About Linux and How To Participate in the Linux Community as an Asian Developer

Are you interested in learning more about Linux, the Linux community and what opportunities are available for Linux developers at Japanese companies? LinuxCon Staging is the perfect opportunity for university students studying computer science to meet and interact with International and Asian Linux kernel developers and learn how they can participate as an active Linux developer. LinuxCon Staging will feature:

  • A series of lectures on participating in the Linux community by top Linux kernel developers from Japan and around the world
  • Access for all attending students to attend all of the keynote and presentations sessions held during all three days of LinuxCon Japan
  • The opportunity for students to submit talks to present as a part of the LinuxCon Staging track (Date TBA).
  • The chance to experience and interact with core Linux developers and other LinuxCon attendees.

This is a unique opportunity for university students interested in Linux development and working on Linux at Japanese companies. We encourage students from Japan, China, Korea and other Asian countries to participate!

Registration:

The first 50 students who register for LinuxCon Japan will receive access for free. If you are not among the first 50 to register, you'll still be able to attend and participate for only $100. Register Now.

Submitting a Talk:

Submitting a talk for the LinuxCon Staging track is easy! Follow these steps:

  1. Think of a talk that relates to the Linux Kernel, System Tools or Libraries.
  2. Think of a title for your talk and prepare a short (150 words maximum) abstract describing what you want to talk about.
  3. Prepare your biography (150 words maximum), telling the reviewers about yourself and your experience.
  4. Send everything in an email to cfp [at] linuxfoundation.org.

All students will be notified as to whether or not their submission was accepted on March 15th. Please note that the deadline for submitting your presentation is March 7th. So don't delay!

Presenting Your Talk:

If your submission is accepted, you will need to prepare a 30-minute presentation (Including 5-10 minutes for questions), including slides that you will present in English during the LinuxCon Staging track (Date TBA).

Please do not feel concerned about making a presentation in English, LinuxCon Japan is a very friendly and encouraging atmosphere for Japanese developers. We look forward to receiving your submissions!
