Tuning Systems for Low Latency -- The Old and the New

Date: Wednesday, March 2nd
Time: 11:15am
Location: Manhattan I

Demanding applications such as high frequency trading require the best latency that the system and environment can possibly give them, but they're not the only ones. Low Latency, Throughput and Determinism are goals often at odds with one another, and getting the most out of your system in your environment for your workload can be a challenging task. What are the basics, what's old, what's new and what should you be asking? This talk will present key ideas and resources and is intended for anyone interested in tuning systems for performance, low latency and determinism in particular, and ideally will seek to get input from the audience on current issues, questions, wishlists they might have in this area. A deep knowledge of Linux is not essential but some familiarity is assumed.
