Companies are always looking for the latest and greatest software which will save them time and money when it comes to labour costs. These days, many business-related tasks and processes are conducted online or using software and those who make use of this software can benefit from a high level of accuracy. An initial investment in these products can save your business time and money – but how?

Accounting software

Accounting software is big business. Accounting and bookkeeping is labour intensive work which can take up a lot of time. Unfortunately it is one of those things that have to be done if your business is ever going to succeed.

Many businesses these days use cloud accounting software but what does that mean? Well, cloud accounting software relies on remote servers. Any accounting that is required by the business is sent to “the cloud”. It is then processed and returned to the business or user.

Benefits of the cloud

One of the biggest advantages of using cloud accounting software is that a business will not have to install software onto their own network of computers. This also helps businesses to save on networking costs.

There are many other benefits from using cloud accounting software, some of which are listed below:

Reduce business costs: as previously mentioned, using cloud accounting significantly reduces business costs. Because all the accounting is done remotely, there is no need for businesses to purchase expensive accounting software. There are also no updates required when using cloud software as must services are automatically updated by the host or provider.

User friendly: cloud software is also very user friendly and business information can be accessed with a few clicks of the mouse. You have the freedom to access data anywhere and at any time too – perfect for modern business which operate on the move.

Versatility and adaptability: there are many alternative or advanced features associated with cloud software. These include multi-company features. If you are processing accounts for several companies at once then your can make use of this feature and customise the software accordingly to each different organisation. This versatility and adaptability is a strong benefit which has plenty of advantages for the company employing it.

Affordability: there are no major up front costs with cloud accounting software either so business cash flow is improved. With cloud accounting software you can generate real time financial reports so your finance team can focus their efforts on things such as business development without having to worry about bookkeeping and accounting.

In addition to what is being said by jasonholmes:

Benefits of cloud accounting

Reduced cost – cloud accounting is a very cost effective solution for all enterprises regardless of their size. It eliminates the need to purchase hardware or accounting software. And unlike the conventional accounting software, it requires absolutely no updates. Overhead costs, version upgrades, maintenance, system administration costs and server failures are now no longer issues – all those things are managed by a cloud accounting service provider.

Ease of access – cloud accounting applications enable users worldwide to access their company financial data from anywhere, at any time without having to download and install anything on their desktop. All you need is an Internet connection!

Advanced features – One example is a Multicompany feature. Managing finances for multiple companies is never an easy task. If you need to maintain records of several organizations, Multicompany is going to come in handy. It will allow you to customize each organization as you please while maintaining the ability for them to work together in one system.

Low TCO - cloud accounting applications tend to be subscription based and can scale according to your company’s needs. Usually there is no major up-front investment in hardware and software. Companies using cloud accounting technology benefit from better cash flow and are able to allocate their IT staff to more strategic projects. Upgrades are also managed seamlessly allowing users to enjoy the new features that come along. What’s better – all this is at absolutely no cost!

Improves Business Performance – It gives an organization the scope to respond to changing business conditions and helps a finance team to generate real-time financial reports and dashboards while allowing a shift of focus to more strategic initiatives.

The Cloud accounting is a new terminology for me. And as you have mentioned,  the features sound really very interesting.  My sister is learning accounting through online education from Accounting for Non Accountants.  I will tell her about this,  it will be surely beneficial for her.
