Android with Long-Term Stable Kernel

Android is becoming a major platform in the Consumer Electronics Industry. New version of Android is releasing every 6 month with using latest Linux kernel. From the manufacturers viewpoint, 6 month release cycle with always latest kernel is too hard because they need to do their quality assurance for new kernel and do own kernel changes for their products. Also, manufacturer's own changes are not submitted to the upstream unfortunately. CE Working Group is established LTSI (Long-Term Stable Initiative) project to solve such industry's problem. LTSI is intended to provide longer term stable Linux Kernel for Consumer Electronics industry. It's kernel will be based on community's long-term stable kernel and the project will back port common features required for the embedded usage to it plus help industry engineers to merge their code into upstream. This talk will provide an over view of the LTSI project for managers and engineers developing Android related manfaturers and SoCs.
