SUMMARY

Tourney Town™ Refreshed By Coca-Cola Zero™ is a free fan festival celebrating the best in women’s college basketball during the 2013 NCAA® Women’s Final Four®.  Tourney Town is located in downtown New Orleans (adjacent to New Orleans Arena) and is anchored by Center Stage with non-stop programming such as concerts by national recording artists, fan favorites like the NCAA Women’s Final Four Pep Rally and AT&T Mascot Challenge, performances by basketball skills entertainers, a talent show featuring local acts and celebrity judges, emcee hosted fan contests for great prizes, appearance and autograph sessions with sports celebrities and sponsor based entertainment programming with fantastic giveaways.  Whether you’re a New Orleans area native or a fan traveling to support your team, Tourney Town is the place to be April 6, 7 and 9.

Be a part of the Women’s Final Four at New Orleans Arena with a variety of events designed to put you close to the action. Fans are invited to join the four teams as they take to the court one last time before competing at the Women’s Final Four.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive autographs from the student-athletes and coaches on complimentary commemorative posters courtesy of AT&T. 


Super Saturday wouldn’t be complete without the WBCA All-America Team Announcement which recognizes the nation’s best women’s college basketball players or the Battle of the Bands. Battle of the Bands is an energy-filled competition featuring the pep bands from the four institutions displaying their school spirit. The winner of Battle of the Bands will be selected by the fans in attendance at open practice. Both events symbolize the passion and camaraderie of college basketball. 


Tipoff for the WBCA High School All-America Game will take place at 4:30 p.m. CT. This prestigious game is organized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and showcases the nation's most gifted female high school basketball players. Former WBCA High School All-Americans who have participated in this event include student-athletes such as Brittney Griner, Courtney Paris, Tamika Catchings, Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker and Maya Moore.  All Super Saturday events are free and open to the public.

The Big Easy Bounce Fueled by POWERADE® will feature several thousand youth dribbling their way through downtown New Orleans. Youth, 18 and under, are invited to participate in this free event and be a part of this unique Women’s Final Four parade. The Bounce route will begin at Superdome Plaza (Gate C) and will conclude at Tourney Town. Participants will receive a t-shirt and basketball, donated by the NCAA and Wilson® Sporting Goods Co. 


Come early to enjoy the free entertainment, activities and fun prior to the bounce. Pre-registration starts at 11 a.m. CT. Tourney Town will welcome dribblers and fans with live music and performances throughout the afternoon. This event is free and open to the public. Online pre-registration is encouraged.

POWERADE® NCAA® Youth Clinics

OVERVIEW

The POWERADE® NCAA® Youth Clinics are a community outreach program that connects kids ages 8 to 14 with selected championships and provides them with the fundamental tools they need for basketball and for life.  Participants receive sport instruction from NCAA coaches and student-athletes and get valuable information on fitness, healthy lifestyles and sportsmanship. Clinic participants will also receive a t-shirt and promotional items courtesy of POWERADE.

 

Youth clinics are free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged. Limited onsite registration will also be available.

Runners, walkers and even pets are invited to participate in the sixth annual 4Kay Run Presented by Northwestern Mutual. This 4K (2.49 mile) fun run/walk is held in honor of the late NC State head women's basketball coach Kay Yow. Proceeds from the 4Kay Run will benefit cancer research through the Kay Yow Cancer Fund®. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 501 c(3) charitable organization committed to the fight against women’s cancers by raising funds for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.

Join the celebration as we salute the Women’s Final Four student-athletes while showcasing local New Orleans flare. This entertainment-packed, theatre style event is one of the few events to see the student-athletes up close. Salute is open to the public, but tickets are required. Limited tickets are available and may be purchased for $30. Tickets are not required for the grand entrance of the teams. Fans without Salute tickets are encouraged to welcome the student-athletes and enjoy the entertainment and fanfare outside of Mardi Gras World.

Since it opened in 1999, the New Orleans Arena has been one of the premier sports and entertainment venues in Louisiana and the Gulf South region. The Arena is home to the New Orleans Hornets (NBA) and the New Orleans Voodoo (AFL), and is the city’s biggest indoor concert stage. Among the major events held here were the 2004 NCAA Women’s Final Four, the 2008 NBA All-Star Game, and the 2007, 2008 and 2012 AFL Arena Bowls. The Arena will once again host the NCAA Women’s Final Four on April 7 and 9, 2013, and the NBA All-Star Game in 2014.

There will be two downtown shuttles servicing the hotels and event locations.
• Shuttle A – Hilton, Intercontinental New Orleans, Ernest N Morial Convention Center and New Orleans Arena
• Shuttle B – Hyatt Regency New Orleans, JW Marriott New Orleans, Sheraton New Orleans, New Orleans Marriott, Ernest N Morial Convention Center and the New Orleans Arena.


Public Transportation
Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with an extensive network of buses and streetcars winding throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City.

 

The Regional Transit Authority operates more than 80 buses on 32 bus routes and three streetcar lines—the St. Charles line, the Canal St. line, and the Riverfront line. In total, there are 66 streetcars covering 13 miles of track.

 

Standard fares start at $1.25 and $.25 per transfer. Jazzy passes (day passes) can be purchased starting at $3.00 for a one-day pass.
