Americans with Disabilities/Section 504

Overview

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, assures that no qualified disabled person shall solely by reason of disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination in access to its programs, services, or activities or in any aspect of their operations.

It is the goal of NJDOT to ensure all facilities, roads and structures designed, constructed and maintained by the NJDOT are ADA compliant. ADA training is provided for all employees and NJDOT is conducting an inventory of sidewalk and curb ramps along its 2,300 miles of state roadway system to ensure compliance.

Mission Statement

in pedestrian facilities, communications, policies and programs
through ongoing partnerships with members of the disability community, interested citizens, and local and regional
