JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is headed for Blu-ray

Only the late '60s or early '70s could have produced this musical story of Christ's last weeks.

It takes a village, sure, but sometimes it takes an era. Only the late '60s or early '70s could have taken the story of Christ's last weeks and turned it into a hit rock opera. Of course, the team of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber certainly helped.

Ted Neely and a cast of no-names star in this film by Norman Jewison ("Fiddler on the Roof," "Moonstruck"), which was based on the hit Broadway play. And Universal Studios announced that they're releasing "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Blu-ray May 7.
