Overview
The slope along this section of SR 8 was failing due to damage from a December 2007 storm. This project stabilized the slope, reducing the risk of future slides and damage to the roadway.

Construction started in October 2008 and wrapped up in March 2009.

How You Benefit
Cross GlyphImproves Safety
Crews constructed a new 3,000-square-foot soldier pile wall to stabilize the slope and reduce the risk of future slides, making the road safer for drivers.

The wall is made of 28 steel piles, with timber lagging between the piles. Piles are tied back using ground anchors reaching 30 to 40 feet into the hillside.
