For the final episode of Season 2, Cam investigates the possibility of levitating speed racers à la WipEout!
This was one of the better features I've seen on Gamespot -- would definitely like to see more of this kind of thing.
they should do a Zombie episode. I would like to see how plausable a Zombie infection is.
science + games = (awesome)^n, where n>M for each number M (even for each cardinal number M, if you know what I mean [; ). So you better bring season 3.
How about battle mechs next season? not UGV's like the war hound, but Mechs like the Aliens Powerloader and the walking tanks of Halo 4, Mech Warrior, and Hawken.
This show is great, the best on a games site. Once I discovered it, I went back and watched all the back episodes. I hope thats statistically significant because I want to see season 3.
really good season i would like to see more seasons to come i
i would like to see if cloaking is possible
Very much enjoyed both series Cam. As a guy who used to hate Science at high school these episodes are fascinating now I can appreciate Science a bit more (I'm a bit older). It's good to see interviews & discussions with leading Scientists & University bods. Look forward to season 3. I'm casting my mind back, & I don't think this has been covered, how about an episode on like sorcery & casting spells (not Harry Potter style) or even elemental weapons??
Your face is approaching the golden ratio.WipEout are my all time favorite games. They could really really benefit from a kick ass story though. I dunno these pilots must be psychos and these companies crazy to pull this all off Pierre Belmondo must be one !@$% of a guy. And they need to really explore new weapons. But It's dependable and that's the best part. I'm still holding out hope for the rumored Zombies DLC
What a brilliant episode, possibly the best of the series. Well done Cam, you're do an awesome job at choosing interesting relevant subjects and then delivering them in such a digestible manner for plebs like me :)
Science is fascinating and it's cool to watch this stuff and dream of the future.. *Prepares to dream* lol
Another amazing episode. cant wait for season 3!
And about the science of the face, here is a suggestion for season 3: clones - is it possible?
this show is a real intriguing look at what could be. It is actually really educational lets all of us know about tech that we have and are developing. Plus it gives us a look inside how exactly close or far some video game ingame tech really is which is a awesome thing so all in all this show is one of GS better ones it should easily get the go ahead but if it gets cancelled I would be extremely bewildered. Keep up the great work all the same.
I can't be the only one for whom dirty thoughts occurred when Cam mentioned "grabbing camera buddy Seb."
If it has to be game-related I would love to see how far we can get with the tech from Batman gadgets :) Like a grapnel gun and high tech combat armor, or a redeployable glider.
@shantd Flying cars are partially covered in this episode, and the internet is already drowning in data about jetpacks (+ they already exist).
I've got 2 surefire winners for ideas.
1 - Flying Cars - Where the hell are the flying cars we were "promised"? It's 2012 and we barely even have electric cars in the field. What gives??
2 - Jet Packs - Again, where the hell are my jet packs? Man should be flying to work by now. The fact that humanity is still stuck in traffic on a worldwide scale is unacceptable.
@shantd Cam has actually got you covered on the jet packs, check out the episode from August 6.
please continue this madness...
why not cover a "RACIST NUCLEAR BOMB" like the one in Gears of War 3, that Marcus's father made... is that stuff possible man?
@zico_mahilary It wasn't a bomb, it was just a field that neutralizes a certain gene in the Locust DNA. So, really it's just like radiation.
@AgentMothman95 ok... then... why not cover a "RACIST RADIATIONISH FIELD" like the one in Gears of War 3, that Marcus's father made... is that stuff possible man?
Great show. Love it. Now for ideas: science fiction and fantasy stories find various semi-plausible ways to make big war machines that are not isolated to the sea. How about the plausibility of an AT-AT walker (perhaps overly expensive, yes, but undeniably awesome) or a giant, nuclear powered airship kept in the air by giant props (a la Avengers flying carrier). And laser swords. You haven't talked about lightsabers. I have heard stories about people making a prototype out of a pen laser and mirrors that reflected the beam back and forth over and over and over to the point where the accumulated beam could cut through paper and thin tin.
Superconducting at only -196C? That's not bad. I thought that the good superconductors had to be cooled to liquid He temperature (-269C). I stand corrected.
This is the first episode of this show I watch, likely because some lack of curiosity, however it is quite interesting. I'll be sure to check some of the previous episodes.
I love the show, but the science of your face was never really accessed all season.
Compared to other shows, mankind is actually very close to WipEout racing technology: there is already a track and a car hovering above it.
Anyway, I hope there will be a season 3, a season 4, a season 5, etc. I really want this show to be like the Sesame Street (a tv-show with 43 seasons) of videogames and science. Well, I will play videogames until next season of the What if Machine.
p.s.: Will there be any event on gamespot this year? You know like the mario kart tournament last year
2:55 - Man, how good must have Andrew felt when he first figured that out. Also, woo Seb! I forgot he existed.
Love these shows. can't wait for Season 3.
