This month, North American subscribers can expect at least five games for free from PlayStation Plus. The headliner is definitely this week’s free title – Dark Souls sibling Demon’s Souls – but there’s also Malicious and Labyrinth Legends for PS3, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny for PSP and Vita, and Zombie Tycoon 2 for PS3 and Vita. As for this week, members will score discounts on The Walking Dead; Rainbow Moon; and Söldner-X.

Naughty Dog has put together an extended cut of a trailer for The Last of Us shown on US television during The Walking Dead season finale this weekend, packing in a bunch of new in-game footage. The new version is exclusive to Amazon Video, so head on over to watch Joel ride horses and other fascinating adventures, preferably in high definition. The PlayStation 3 adventure is due in mid-June.

William Shatner, the original face of James T Kirk, returns to facedown an old foe in this new trailer for Digital Extremes’ Star Trek, a tie in to the rebooted film series. This is pretty much the best thing. Star Trek is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 23 in the US and April 26 in Europe.

While apparently Tomb Raider’s first few weeks on shelves were so bad that Square Enix’s president quit, they were also so good that Tomb Raider had the best launch in the history of the 17-year franchise. So says Crystal Dynamics boss Darrell Gallagher at GDC.

IF you’re one of those people who are still investing in PS3 digital downloads you won’t be able to play on the PS4 (like all of us), then you will be happy to know that the PS2 versions of Grand Theft Auto portable entries Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories will be available for digital purchase next week in North America and Europe for $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99. Wednesday we learned that David Hayter, longtime voice actor for Solid Snake and Big Boss, will not be back for Metal Gear Solid 5. GameTrailers asked Hideo Kojima how that could be, and he gave them an answer. “It will be a new person, I can’t say who yet. What we’re trying to accomplish is to recreate the Metal Gear series. It’s a new type of Metal Gear game, and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well.”

Today at GDC, Bungie gave a presentation on world building in their new IP Destiny, and they showed us a video that they have since put on YouTube for all to enjoy that contains all sort of character art for various races that will be in the game, from concepts to actual animated stuff. Paradox Interactive, known best as a studio for PC diehards, if going to make a game for the PlayStation 4. They don’t exactly know what it will be yet, but producer Gordon van Dyke told Joystiq at GDC that whatever it ends up being, either a port of an existing game like War of the Roses or something we haven’t seen, it won’t be “a cheap PC port on console.”
