The tech pundit jury has apparently reached a solemn, sober verdict on the Chromebook Pixel laptop +Google launched Thursday. And the verdict is ... "Oh my God, look at the sticker price!"

But before you close the book on the Pixel, find out why it could be beneficial to you: http://on.mash.to/YIgw54

+Patrick Conant I saw the video of +Marques Brownlee  He just tries hard to justify the price but IMO fails.
He just said what I said about google going the apple way. But he sure puts it in a different way(is that a paid review? :-P or is he hoping with this he might get one of the free CPs google is giving out to developers :-P) Google wants to create a "new market". Hell yeah just like Apple created it with their Iphones. Charging unreasonably high for a product that had just one(or 2) features that other phones did not have(but will have in a few months).
I think it might be the touchscreen and the "slim factor" of the CP. They want developers to develop more apps. Yeah if someone is going to buy the CP it definitely has to be a "splurge" They sure won't mind paying for apps. Apple makes money on its apps. Because apple fanboys really don't care too much for money(too dumb to work out the maths I guess, or they would rather taken their iphones to MCDs and eat happy meals because junk food is the only thing they can afford to eat after buying the iphone and the apps :-P).
So google is hoping to cut into that market i guess or hoping that some of the google fanboys are that way too.
They could have just named this iChrome :-P

The rumors were true. Google’s Chromebook is going upscale. The search giant and OS upstart unveiled its first high-resolution touchscreen laptop on Thursday, the Pixel, and turned the Chrome OS and Chromebook from an entry-level platform for cash-starved netizens into a powerful tool for cloud-friendly business people.

It's a big bet and one has to wonder, can the Chrome OS survive at this altitude?
