Sony announced the PlayStation 4 with a lot of fanfare and in-your-face visuals. The two-hour presentation inundated the media and gaming industry with a lot of pretty lights and sounds, but left more questions that needed answering. While we're not expecting to see the PlayStation 4 on store shelves until late in the year, there's a lot we hope to learn before then. Even Sony doesn't have all the answers right now -- the company admitted that many things are still being ironed out.

Jimmy Fallon Epically Fails at the PlayStation 4

The newly announced PlayStation 4 made an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Thursday night, and Jimmy was one of the first people to get his hands on its new controller. Fallon tried out a section of one of the system's launch titles, Killzone Shadow Fall, a futuristic shooter set in a vivid, violent world. Fallon and comedian Anthony Anderson both took turns fighting through legions of future soldiers somewhat unsuccessfully.

How 'Skylanders' Creates a Superfan Economy

To call Activision’s Skylanders franchise a success is an understatement. In just under a year and a half, the series’ two games, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and Skylanders: Giants, have raked in $1 billion in sales worldwide. They remain both the top-selling action figure series and children’s game out now. PlayStation 4 Gets Early Support From Publishers and Developers

The PlayStation 4 unveiling Wednesday night proved to be just as much about the games and publishers already planned for the system as it was the new hardware. Sony took the time to trot out several different companies to showcase what each had been working on in secret for the console. The PlayStation hardware will be powerful enough to run beautiful games; that was one thing made clear from the presentation.

Even Sony Isn't Sure What the PlayStation 4 Will Look Like

The reason Sony didn't show the exterior of the next-generation PlayStation 4 console at Wednesday's presentation was because the console hasn't been completed yet, according to Sony's worldwide studio president Shuhei Yoshida. "The console hardware isn't finished, but we thought this was a really good time to show our games," Yoshida said in a roundtable discussion with journalists Thursday morning.

PlayStation 4 a No-Show

If you were hoping to see an actual console after Sony's PlayStation 4 launch event -- or even to learn how much it will cost -- you're sadly out of luck. The much-hyped two-hour event, watched by hundreds of thousands online, turned out to be long on game demos and short on details about the actual device, which is set to launch sometime in the holiday season. Most of the press and other invited guests in the audience expected that the demos were leading up to an unveiling of the console itself.

Sony's PlayStation 4 will hit stores in time for the holiday season. The electronics giant unveiled the PS4 at a big press event in New York City on Wednesday, and showed off lots of game footage, but shared very little about the console itself. While we don't know how much the console will cost, the type of media it will use or what the box even looks like, we do know that it will hit store shelves during the upcoming 2013 holiday season.

Sony Announces the PlayStation 4

PlayStation fans, your wait is almost over. Sony officially announced the PlayStation 4 at a press event Wednesday, the next generation of its popular console. Nine years in the making, the PlayStation 3, the current PlayStation in the market, was released seven years ago in November of 2006. "The living room is no longer the center of the PlayStation universe, the gamer is," Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment said at the event.

What to Expect From the Next PlayStation

Sony is making a big announcement late Wednesday, and the consensus from the rumor mill is that it will be the next generation PlayStation console (a.k.a "PlayStation 4"). Interactive Hospital Wall Is Therapy for Child Patients

Patients at the Royal London Children’s Hospital now have a playground, the centerpiece of which is a giant television with which the children can interact. The lively playground has a Pixar-meets-Alice and Wonderland look, equipped with over-sized chairs and chandeliers and bright, colorful toys. The plush toys are integrated into a television game, so the kids can play with both the physical and digital versions.

Buzz Lightyear Mobile Game Is on Its Way

Disney released a teaser photo Tuesday for a new Toy Story-themed mobile game coming soon. Posted to Disney Interactive’s Tumblr, the image shows Buzz Lightyear throwing a ball into a stack of blocks, presumably knocking them down in order to score points. The tease for the mobile game comes the same day that rumors surfaced regarding a new Toy Story movie. According to several Colombian news sites, Disney and Pixar will be releasing Toy Story 4 in 2015.

Exclusive: Draw Something Turns One, Hits 100 Million Downloads

A little over a year ago social-gaming startup Omgpop released Draw Something in the App Store. The Pictionary-style game was an overnight success, garnering an astounding 50 million downloads in its first 7 weeks in the store, and the attention of gaming-giant Zynga. Zynga purchased Omgpop in March of last year for a reported $180 million, bringing its staff and CEO Dan Porter into the company.
