E3: Sony Talks PS3 Price Drop, PSP2 and Lackthereof at E3

Posted June 16, 2010 by M.H. Williams

Yesterday at their E3 press conference Sony pushed the PlayStation Move and their current 3D initiative quite hard. But gamers everywhere wondered: Where’s the PS3 price drop? Where was the long-rumored PSP2? SCEE President Andrew House had a chance to sit down with VG247 and answer those very questions.

On a price drop for the PlayStation 3, House remained adamant that it wouldn’t be happening. “I would say that we would have announced that today if we had plans to do so in the immediate future,” he said with certain finality.

House did not outright deny a future model of the PSP, but said that Sony was looking to continue supporting their current platform for the time being. “No plans to discuss anything around next generation right now. I think it’s important that we keep our focus on building great content for the great devices we have out now,” he concluded.
