EVEREST

The OLCF also provides the Exploratory Visualization Environment for REsearch in Science and Technology (EVEREST) and its associated visualization cluster, everest. A large-scale venue for data exploration and analysis, EVEREST measures 30 feet wide and 10 feet tall. Its main feature is a 27-projector Powerwall displaying 11,520 by 3,072 pixels or a total of 35 million pixels, offering tremendous detail. The projectors, arranged in a 9×3 array, each provides 3,500 lumens. The everest cluster is a15 node Linux cluster dedicated to driving the EVEREST Powerwall. Each node contains two dual-core AMD Opteron processors and two NVIDIA 8800 GTX GPUs. Coupled with a dedicated Lustre filesystem, the EVEREST facility provides a compelling experience for scientists exploring data at extremely fine scales.
