Accessibility

What features exist, and how you can use them.

Text resizing

If the text on our site is too small or too large for you to read comfortably, you can change its size. If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel you can hold down Ctrl and scroll up and down to increase and decrease the size of the text.

To change the size of the text view in your browser please read our guide to changing text sizes which advises how to change the text size in the most popular browsers.

Text only

A Text Only version of the website which does not show images is available. The text only version website loads more quickly, is easier to copy from and is compatible with Screen Readers for people with visual impairments.  A link to the text only version appears in the top line of navigation on every page.  When you're in the text only version this link is replaced with the link 'Return to graphics mode'.

Adobe Acrobat PDF documents

Documents and reports within the site are published in PDF (Portable Document Format).

This document format is consistent in all browsers. Most computers will have Adobe Reader already installed, but if you do not have it on your pc, you can download it free of charge at http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/.

The link to install Adobe Reader is available on pages where a pdf document is linked to so you can easily download Adobe Reader if you need to.

Our website templates currently conform to WAI AA accessibility standards. We are working hard to ensure all content conforms to the highest standards.  More information on the accessibility guidelines can be found on the WAI website.
