Good Samaritan Returns $1,200 in Cash and Gets Rude Reaction

You've heard the adages "No good deed goes unpunished" and "Never judge a book by its cover." There is perhaps no better recent example of both sayings being applicable than in what happened to 29-year-old Kyle Osborn.

Osborn owns an auto detailing shop in Harrisonville, Missouri. On Feb. 6 he found an envelope containing $1,200 in cash on the ground outside of the Sutherlands Hardware Store. Osborn went in search of the money's owner, walking around the store to see if he could find anyone who had lost something. He found a man who said he had lost the envelope of cash and gave the envelope to him. Osborn was surprised by what the man said: "I hope it's all there." Osborn said that "a simple 'thank you' would have been nice."

Osborn later posted the details of what happened on his Facebook page. His post got the attention of the guys at Sutherlands. They thought the way the man had responded to Osborn's gesture was so rude that they wanted to make things right. They put together a goody bag of Sutherlands swag and a $50 gift card to reward Osborn for his honesty.

Osborn hopes that people will learn from his experience, and he says, "Just because [somebody's got] a beard and tattoos and [they're] dirty doesn't mean they're bad people."

I don't think Osborn looks like a bad person at all. The guy who lost the cash was rude. Seems like some people just don't have any manners. The guy was a jerk, and I'm glad the hardware store people did something nice for Osborn.

I would have said, "If I wanted your money, you wouldn't have seen the envelope again."

Why in hell would someone only take part of the money and hunt him down to return part?
      Idiot!

And RUDENESS is something you SEE EVERYWHERE.
You did a fine job, Kyle Osborn!!! Never mind the UNGRATEFUL person.

Unfortunately there are too many self-centered, selfish people in this world who think only of themself. Two simple words would have been sufficient to show his gratitude, but he wasn't man enough to say them.

Osborn, just remember what goes around comes around. You will be rewarded and the jerk you returned the money to will get what he deserves. No worries.

in mid 80's ( i think 84) I found a wallet while walking home from a convenience store with around $100 in it, I went home looked up his name in the phone book and found it. Called the guy and asked if he had lost his wallet, he snapped at me and said yes and all the money better be in there or I'll kick your ax. ( there was no caller I.D. at the time in my area). I said wow you are brilliant as the idiot who lost his wallet, yes all all the money was there but he can find the wallet himself and it will be in the middle of the street. I took it to the intersection (still full )and threw it in the middle of the road and watched as cars ran over it and watched it flip a few times and walked away.
I do not steal, I show respect and always try to do the right thing but when someone reacts like that they can find it themselves if given the opportunity.
I have returned 2 other wallets in my life and had huge thanks and offered rewards yet never took them as I would want mine returned as a common courtesy.

I would trust a guy with tattoos before I would trust a "clean-cut-suit-wearing" politician.

    • Mickelson a huge Riviera fan after long learning curve

PACIFIC PALISADES, California (Reuters) - Phil Mickelson ranks Riviera Country Club as one of his favorite venues on the PGA Tour, even though it took him almost a decade to discover the art of playing the par-71 layout. Known as a classic shot-maker's course, Riviera continually vexed Mickelson as he missed four cuts in eight PGA Tour appearances here between 1988 and 2001. He then skipped the event until 2007 when he made a last-minute decision to compete and ended up losing to fellow American Charles Howell III in a playoff for the title. ...
