USA drops four spots in FIFA rankings, Mexico holds at 15

The U.S. men's national team has dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings, following last week's World Cup qualifying loss to Honduras and a friendly scoreless draw with Canada.

The 0-0 draw with Canada at Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium on Jan. 29 and the 2-1 defeat to Los Catrachos in San Pedro Sula saw the USA drop from 28th to 32nd in the world but remain the second-highest ranked team in CONCACAF. Mexico, the top squad in the region, stayed put at 15th in the rankings following a 0-0 draw with Jamaica.

After its 4-0 loss to Denmark and draw with the USA, Canada dropped eight spots from 64th to 72nd.

One of the biggest risers this month is Nigeria, whose Africa Cup of Nations triumph had the Super Eagles soar from 52nd to 30th -- their highest ranking since August 2010. The side they defeated in the final, Burkina Faso, climbed 37 places to 55th place.

Spain, Germany and Argentina top the standings, respectively, while England's win over Brazil has the Three Lions fourth overall, a two-spot improvement over last month.

There are at at least 50 national teams that are better than USA - these rankings are massively flawed

Us soccer is on its way up regardless of these rankings. MLS is a growing league and is producing good players. Lets just hope that JK finds the right combination of players to form a coherent USMNT. In the mean time lets support this beautiful sport, by playing it, attending matches, buying their products, etc. Cheers.

Maybe it's just me, but our team looks confused and unsure of itself. At least with Bradley, we had a direct/power style game that everyone understood even if we didn't execute all that well all the time. With Klinsman, I can't tell what's going on out there. I see a lot of guys just standing around and kind of just doing whatever "feels" right.......... We better get this together or we aren't getting out of the hex for real!

Can you imagine a U.S.-Nigeria match? The U.S. would be lucky to get off the field without being totally embarassed. Terrible back line + weak midfield + anemic strikers = disaster.

I completely agree with Jose. USA football, real football, is indeed on it's way up. And american football is on it's way down.

Who cares about FIFA rankings? They are completely meaningless.

US Soccer is pathetic. Who cares. They never live up to their expectations. Or is it that too much is expected? Either way, US Soccer is pathetic.
