Video Review - Aliens: Colonial Marines

I knew this game was going to suck, It been years since there was a good alien game.  They have flopping for the past nearly 2 decades.  The last good alien i think i played was on the Playstation 1.  I think it was Alien Trilogy for the ps1

Wow...this definitely affects my opinion of Gearbox. After Borderlands I & II, Gearbox had almost earned the kind of reputation with me where I would trust anything developed by them. This situation proves that we should never give developers "cult status". I don't care who the developer is: unless his name is Kojima, always wait for the reviews people!

Such a shame and a waste of peeps time.....

Its time for the big corps like sega & capcom to f@@koff or get there act together and let the independents with funding from kickstarter and other sources do there magic with real games with great feel for real peeps who just want good games to play ...

this game has suffered the same exact fate has resident evil 6. now that's fucking hilarious XD 

I'm a fan of the franchise, but I'm not a fan of Sega for messing up another great game. Like Alien vs Predator (2010) there were so many flaws that it just broke the game for me. They should really put the guys in charge of the franchise that made Alien vs Predator 2 (I think that was Monolith Productions). That would be an amazing game. Sega, Sega, Sega... just stop making these games and hand over the rights to somebody else.

Kevin VanOrd is to strict and bias a mean a 4.5 its a 7.0 at least and i wouldn't give it much more as there are some plot issues if you are fan of the series. but also the point of the game is that you will be shooting aliens and some yutani soldiers so there is no other way of doing that. 

so if your a fan of Aliens then you will like it there is certainly nothing boring about this game. if you want to destroy the alien franchise so another game will not ever be made then reviews like this will do it.  

I think gamers and reviewers need to relearn how to play video games and have fun doing that. For instance, why should a boring and linear corridor shooter like Call of Duty get good reviews while any other shooter which tries the same formula shouldn't? Think about it.

It's a shame that this came ended up lile this. I wanted it to be good; at E3 it looked so good. I guess it's just big business trying to win us over.

Sucks. I looked forward to this title, especially since the previous entry to the Aliens franchise in 2010 was such a bust. Didn't buy that one, and won't buy this one either. The good ol' Aliens versus Predator 2 (some 10 years ago) is still my favourite.

This game doesn't look that bad... I haven't played it (obviously) but it doesn't look bad... Then again I had no expectations for it ahha

Yes, this was pretty sub-standard from what we were wanting, but this isnt exactly the worst shooter around you guys - Too many people out there are moaning about the "Lack of suspense" but to be honest you already know exactly who/what weyland and the xenos are - so why are people not happy just to jump in and fill a xenos head in with a pulse rounds - yummm - Guess this just brings up the whole horror-genre debate thats been kciking about since dead space 3 - theres nothing scary if you know what to expect

On the graphics side i had no problems with screen tearing, poor framerates, texture popping, and i completely disagree with the term "dated visuals".

Just enoying the game folks, crank up the difficulty to "Ultimate Badass" unless eyr a whimp and let rip into some xeno skulls - Dont let "CoD Supremacy" ruin what you should expect from a just-for-fun shooter these days

Stole this game off the interwebs. Wow, what a complete piece of shit. I feel really bad for people who paid $60, its practically unplayable. 

...and Kevin, RE6 scoring the same rating is bullshit, dude. However, I think you know this, otherwise I would have a really hard time respecting you as a video game critic (even though your history is otherwise stellar).

So its COD just without COD in the name. And if it did have call of duty in the name it would have of gotten at LEAST 8.5.......

I didn't expect much from this but wow, this game is complete garbage. 

One of the poorest reviews i've watched. Its like he is looking for flaws just to give it shit. Sure it's pretty mediocre, but if ya bitching about difficulty..play it on the hardest level. We all know games are much more accessible now/mainstream. BTW, his voice and slow scripted talk is down right annoying.

Single player is horrible.

Competitive play is awesome but... there's Natural Selection 2, which scratches the Marines vs Aliens itch MUCH better, and is half the price

Not surprised at all, after what GEARBOX did with Duke Nukem Forever.

Just go back to Borderlands 3 ASAP, please.

This game is abysmal. I can't get over just how bad the game looks and animates (on PC). It would have looked rubbish 6+ years ago!

So much missed opportunity just in regards to the things they could have done with this game.

If you want a good (and deep) marines vs aliens game then go check out Natural Selection 2 and leave this steaming turd in the gutter where it belongs.

Wow, that's depressing.  When the game was first announced I was pretty excited, as like many people I love the first two Alien films.  Once more details came out, I started to lose interest.  Now my worst fears have been confirmed.

Why is it so difficult to license such a great franchise to a competent developer?  Before this we get Rebellion, who in fairness at least made a good Aliens game a decade ago.  After Duke Nukem and Aliens: Colonial Marines, it going to be hard to trust Gearbox anymore.  Sure Borderlands can be fun, but even that is sorely lacking in terms of story and character development (I have no motivation to finish the second one).  And that's the best thing they got.

Sad thing is people will still probably buy this.  Thanks masses, for encouraging substandard game development.

lol people like the pulse rifle sound?.. that pulse rifle sound is actually part of the problem!  :P Those guns lack power in every single way. Maybe if they had added more impact-sparks on the floors and walls it would have seemed more powerful. I won't ask for any recoil, since the movies didn't have any either. Really.. staying true to the movies was a bad decision on several fronts.

Boy, another wastes of time and talent and a good IP...  So is there going to be an ungodly amount of DLC for this one too?  I love Borderlands 2.... but there  is way too much DLC and they never put it on sale.

I have not pick it up yet and boy am i glad.

This game a massive letdown and the first big failure of 2013.
