Local Erath County 4-Hers took center stage this weekend with the start of the annual Erath County Livestock Show and Youth Fair at the ECJLA barn off FM 205 on Saturday. The competitors in the 9th annual Youth Fair gathered early Saturday morning to ensure their more than 120 exhibits were on display to be judged.
When Stephenville High School student Nicole Carter decided to start showing animals at the Erath County Livestock Show last year, she said it was for the scholarship opportunities. What brought her back to the show this year was the feeling of accomplishment she got from raising the animals.

While it may be her first year to show a dairy heifer, Kylie Manning is no stranger to stock shows. The 17-year-old senior at Stephenville High School has been showing animals since she was old enough to join 4-H in the third grade.
