The Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council’s goal is to develop, promote, and administer the human resources strategy for the aviation maintenance and aerospace manufacturing industry. One way CAMC accomplishes this is through the implementation of projects supported by industry, government, and CAMC itself.

The following projects are currently underway:

Career Focus – wage subsidy funding for employers in the aviation maintenance and aerospace manufacturing industry to hire post-secondary graduates

National Aviation and Aerospace Occupational Standards Development – development of Occupational Standards for Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Auditor

Safety Management System (SMS) - The objective of this project is to aid in the establishment of an enhanced safety culture across the industry by introducing new knowledge, skills and attitudes for current as well as future employees.  A series of learning and evaluation tools have been developed to help the aviation and aerospace industry implement SMS best practices.

Airport Occupation Rationalization (AOR) - The focus of this study is to identify sector-specific trends regarding training and development, recruitment and retention and other human resources issues associated with airports.

Human Resource Study of the Commercial Pilot in Canada - Update  (HRSCP-U) - This project will provide the researched data  that will then be used to develop a comprehensive picture of Canada’s commercial pilot  occupation, describing both current conditions and likely developments in the future.

Professional Pilot Occupational Standard Development Project
Due to the importance of Professional Pilots to the aviation transportation system, the industry has asked CAMC to create an occupational standard for Professional Pilots. This standard will be developed and validated with the support of Human Resources and Social Development Canada and input from focus groups made up of representatives from aviation consisting of all sectors of air operations.
