North Korea uses Modern Warfare 3 footage to depict attack on New York

Rogue nuclear state in "acting like complete nutters" shock

If you're in any doubt as to the fundamental and enduring insanity of North Korea, consider that state-owned media agency Uriminzokkiri has just released a propaganda video of New York in flames - as brought to life by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

"Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing," reads the caption on the propaganda video (via Kotaku and LiveLeak). "It seems that the nest of wickedness is ablaze with the fire started by itself." I suppose that could be calculated irony there - America has gotten very, very good at depicting its own destruction.

"Despite all kinds of attempts by imperialists to isolate and crush us... Never will anyone be able to stop the people marching toward a final victory," continues the caption, which was presumably written by somebody who has yet to play Homefront.

Just so you know, the music in the background is the work of famed North Korean celebrity musicians Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson.

  1. For a video that depicts the destruction of the western world, that was scarily uplifting.

  2. Just a heads up Ed the Kotaku link appears to link back to the OXM post.

They should've stole the soundtrack from COD MW3 as well.

  3. Sorry, errant space. Fixxored.

  4. I'm just waiting for right-wing fox news commentators to insist that this game is pulled from shelves because violent video games are going to cause full nuclear war

  5. Actually I wonder if they use footage of a series of disaster movies backed with Yakety Sax next...

    Blame video games.
    Blame video games.
It seems everythings gone wrong, since video games came along.

There not even a real format anyway.

The money of North Korea must be going to women leg toning programmes! :)

That and the end of the world.

That and the end of the world.

    Both worthy causes.

  14. The bad news is New York was destroyed in the apparently invisible United States? The good news is, you're still sexy North Korea!

  15. That was probably the most uplifting propaganda video about the destruction of the western world I have ever seen.

Still, I can't believe North Korea are still around. China has essentially abandoned them, Russia refuses to be associated with them anymore and everyone else is just waiting for the day they attack South Korea.

  16. I'm pretty sure the South Koreans aren't.

  17. lol, This is bad... Not looking good at all...

What an ignorant statement. Shame on you.

  19. It's occured to me that whoever made that vid had obviousy never played MW3, cause then they'd know that the entire invading fleet could be defeated by a couple of impossibly tough delta force guys with a knack for eating bullets.
