Raiden has much more than Metal Gear Gekkos to worry about.

@totto210 Check out Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros. This MG Game is being made by a completely different studio then previous game. Metal Gear Series is still alive.

I've been a huge fan of the Metal gear series, From the Original Metal Gear, to Portable Ops, I've loved them all. This however, is one game I will more then likely not be buying. They have gone from "tactical espionage action" to a Devil May Cry hack'n'slash based on the MG world. I don't even want to know why raiden has his exoskeleton back on after being rebuilt at the end of MGS4 and being reunited with his family. This game lost everything I've loved about the series, although I'm sure it will attract some people, just as the recent Devil May Cry has it's fan boys over the original. I personally will be looking forward and waiting for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeros.

@Zeronz112 They explain in the game. You could have at least researched why he went back to fighting. Raiden needed money to provide for his family, his existence isn't on record so he took a job with a Private Security Group who help war torn countries on the road to peace. He is friends with the leader, Boris, and has known him since Area 51. Boris was a member of the Paradise Lost Army from MGS4. Raiden took it as an easy job and would come back to his family once he had the money for his family; he was only involved in security and military training.

Raiden comes back to fighting after his friend and client N'Mani, an African Prime Minister, is murdered by another PMC Group called Desperado. They not only murder N'Mani, but also cut off Raiden's arm and eye. He learns that Desperado has been terrorizing multiple countries and are involved with other terrorist. They are also involved with human trafficking, and Raiden learns that Desperado plans may go deeper than what it seems. So Raiden takes the job to find Desperado and stop them while also on a mission to avenge N'Mani and his personal loss.

The game is spin-off that is trying something different for a different audience. This game is for fans who've wanted to play a Cyborg Ninja for a long time and the way Raiden was shown in MGS4 cutscenes he would not work in an all out stealth game. So before he we start saying Metal Gear is dead or whatever why don't we at least try the game then judge if it was good or not. Kojima himself seems to love it.

I have lost every single excitment for this game. I was so hyped for it, with raiden being my favorite Metal gear character. But Konami ruined it with their unfair spoiler trailers. They have literally shown us every thing in the game. They've shown almost ALL boss battles, the entire plot except for the ending, every single fighting move you can do, and a load of other gameplay elements. Trailers are meant to excite the gamer, not show him the entire game. They've been releasing countless, COUNTLESS trailers for the past month or so. WHY?!!!

DoomglooM

@raiden-94 I don't get it....you're the only one ruining anything, and for yourself...next time watch them with your eyes closed and ears plugged....

@raiden-94 You know that is a lie right, you've barely seen anything in this game. Also you didn't have to look at the trailers.

Awful. A disgrace to the Metal Gear name. Pathetic hack and slash gameplay.

Some things aparentlycan't be cut in half, and the things that can, magically disappear after a few seconds. Pathetic.

Not to mention that Raiden's purpose in the game makes no sense.

Xellos976
Xellos976

@Jawehawk-DK this games all about the gameplay from what ive seen, played.

gonna be true here: the environments look lackluster and some textures suck and the issues uve mentioned but what do we get in return? 60fps gameplay with raiden and enemies looking as detailed as possible. Basically it seems to me that mostly things that u wont notice during a fight have been neglected but not to an unplayable extent

Frankenstrat247
Frankenstrat247

@Jawehawk-DK Were you bitching and moaning when Ac!d was released as well?

And why do you think those things disappear?  Do you really expect systems over 5 years old to just magically have the memory to keep track of everything you cut up all the time?

RichterB17
RichterB17

@Jawehawk-DK What do you mean his purpose in the game makes no sense? He's a Cyborg, there are other Cyborgs terrorizing different nations and Raiden is the only one to stop them.

dalua360
dalua360

@RichterB17 @Jawehawk-DK Really? As far as I know, Snake took out a LOT of Gekkos by himself.... This demo showed to us nothing so terrible, any army could solve the problem... Call Bayoneta or Ninja Gayden, or DMC, they can help!

Its almost like people never played special missions. Clearly the fact that in special mission Kojima included missions where you get play as Frank, means that this is something he has wanted for freaking ever. And now he has found a capable dev team to expand on that idea. And after playing the demo i can guarantee you that Platinum does not disappoint. However, if they dont have a snake cameo im gonna flip out. Or at least just a glimpse of his bandana waving in the air.

@solidsnake50I know you from these forums for some time, we can say even by your username that you are a big fan of this series. But sometimes we have to think systematically and put aside our feelings, what I mean is that this game is very bad! It's a shame to Kojima, and as I am also a fan of the series I'm disappointed. The first version of the game, from that first trailer, was very promising, and after Platinum took over the project, I saw the game turn into another hack n slash game ... I know it's hard to assume the failure of an idol, it happened to me with the Splinter Cell series, Battlefield and Operation Flashpoint. We have to keep our critical sense, otherwise we'll let developers walk a path to becoming less Hardcore, because their goal is no longer to satisfy their fan base, they only think about profit now, and all clueless players will continue buying that sh*t!

RichterB17
RichterB17

@dalua360 @solidsnake50 This is getting really stupid. What part of this game looks bad? Because it's a Hackn'Slash? Since when were Hackn'Slash Games (especially from Platinum Games) bad? Seriously people get your head out of your asses and realize that MGS Rising was a goddamn dud and Kojima cancelled it. The game was ass and Kojima gave it to Platinum cause he knew they could revive it and make it better.

You people who've who are still clinging on to a tech demo really need to get your heads examined.

RichterB17
RichterB17

@dalua360 @RichterB17 The only fanboys are the ones who refuse to believe that MGS: Rising was going nowhere in the development. 2 years... 2 goddamn years and all they had to show was a tech demo. Platinum Games have so far not made a bad action game and I doubt they would screw up on a huge series like Metal Gear.

TERMINATOR-SSD

i just hope the PC version gets a high res texture pack and features that makes use of PC tech. Would be a real shame if this will just be a straight up port :-(

I much prefer mystical setting on those sword slicing games. For cyborg games, I prefer shooter like Halo or Crysis. Even for futuristic slicing setting, I would go with Star Wars. Those modern robo games just doesn't feel right for me.

raweewat

@magicalclick Crysis is comparable I guess (with all the nanomachines and what not) but Halo's setting is like 500 years into the future.

RichterB17
RichterB17 like.author.displayName 1 Like

@binderdundat How so? Metal Gear Rising is a spin-off where you take the role of a Cyborg Ninja. It would make sense for a game with a character like Raiden to be an action game and not a stealth game. If stealth is what you are missing check out Konami's Japanese Youtube channel, they have a trailer showing off some of the stealth. You can even use magazines to sneak up behind enemies like in MGS (and the model they use is the female Type A model from MGO).

ok what the frack...is this Robocop meets Beast Wars? I'm ok with ''animal robots'' but that gorilla robot is just plain dumb. This was a day 1 purchase for me, but looking at this footage I'll be waiting for the bad reviews to see what the game iks truly about. Looks very linear, with always the same enemies, and no depth to it. I'm afraid they are targeting the halo kids for this game.

@Shinobi-Neo Is the oversexualisation in Bayonetta really more perverted like, lets say, Nathan Drake killing 200 Men(Fathers, Sons, Husbands) in 10min. with a joke on his lips and is portrayed like the average sympathic dude in the cutscenes?
