Nerf Lazer Tag for iOS is a really strong use case for augmented reality. Is there a chance for broader influence from this device/app on the gaming industry?

I'm just waiting for some uneducated ass of a politician to tell us that Nerf Laser Tag AR is more dangerous than guns.
looks like VR has risen from the dead in the form of AR. the next steps will be a more convincing HUD and then haptic feedback like they said in the video.

@FeedOnATreeFrog It is not. Andy came up with the idea of doing a video feature around iOS party games, including this and Space Team. We ended up just doing it on this, and will do Space Team separately.

@FeedOnATreeFrog That is what i was thinking about the whole time. Gamespot is pretty obscure, no one knows what are their real intentions.

Hmm, how about glasses that you can't see thru, that instead have screens with cameras on the back, so you see everything that you would be seeing if you didn't have them on. Then the AR could be on the screen over whatever you're looking at. You could do this with technology we have now, in smartphones.
@starduke Except everyone would be walking into things. Maybe 1 eye can't be see through but both. Sounds good but think about it. You would be paying more attention to aiming then anything and end up walking into things.
@RPG_Fan_I_Am Neither eye would see thru, because both would be blocked by screens that would display what you would be seeing without them. Also, I was talking about every day use, not just for games, like a HUD in a video game for your day to day life.
@starduke @RPG_Fan_I_Am I thought you just meant for this game, And I just realized you said camera's in the back of the screens, thats my bad. I understand now.
But I was referring to the fact that the Iphone's camera would be the only way you can see. So that means you only see where you aim. And I feel like you would walk into things because you would lose your depth perception. and you wouldn't be able to see as much.

How to play laser tag as an adult....Be in a cool house with multiple stair cases if possible. Turn off all the lights and put up some black lights. Blast pink floyd throughout the house so that you cannot hear the other person moving around. Super fun. I still have my old laser tag gear from the eighties and we pull it out sometimes. I'm 34.

Firstly It's freaking laser tag..... "I'm looking forward to the fact that kids 30 years from now will become programers" Seriously? So in 30 years, I get to look forward to these kids making AR tech, instead of the kids that played, O, I don't know, Laser Tag growing up 20 years ago?
This isn't even interesting. Why should I pay for this plastic gun, An Iphone, and the App, When I could pay for a Laser Tag game. Did you know Laser Tag itself Also has grenades? Bet the Iphone doesn't come with those.
Also How is this remotely AR? All you get is lasers shooting on your Iphone. Everything else is the same. Nothings added to the environment or even changed for that matter. Now if those tables turned into bushes, the ceiling into the sky, and the walls into a forest. I would be like thats damn interesting.

@joedan38@RPG_Fan_I_Am Um... yea.... you can buy laser tag sets.... I had them back in the 90's for like $40. heres some nicer sets on amazon though.

Everything was going well until they compared this sh*t with the ps vita! Totally paid for! I've got 10 bucks...
Uh oh, have I fallen asleep and not posted stronger cases for Augmented Reality use...? No, okay good! 'Cause if I haven't been clear enough, it might be because I can't whisper it in the right ears to this point...Not to diminish Lazer Tag!
It's an ok idea, but another plastic shell for your ipod, really dosen't turn me on, I would rather have the old IR guns, or even use real low powered lasers, like those laser pointers, and have a target that receives the laser, and your tagged, I like the idea of the kickpedals in maybe in a vest, or in the target that Homer (IIRC) suggested that would give a consequence of being tagged, a reason for you to avoid it, and not just hear a beep, or boop
