Try to understand this. Maybe I should buy this game.

None of your improvements will matter since the game remains M-rated and therefore those that play it will be less capable of discerning much less appreciating real improvement, all thanks to the mentally-degenerating effect of M-content. Try, try in vain, it's all for nothing unless there are still dupes ignorant and impressionable enough to risk M-rated games who never have before, but after that, it's all just playing to a CAPTIVE audience.

@tgwolf People are so black and white.  You speak up against the M-rating, and people immediately think you want something docile.  Games rated M can be fun, but for the most part they are filling up the stores and it's because people just want to see the violence.  It's like a car crash; everybody slows down when they see a car crash on the other side of the freeway.  People want to see this stuff, probably because it's exotic to them.  It is interesting that 95% of video games use violence to portray story elements.  I've been wondering about that for years, and I'm wondering if it's a fault of humanity or if we are inherently violent by nature and we find ways to express it through media.  This may sound strange, coming from someone that loves games like Dark Souls and Skyrim, but I am getting bored of all the over-the-top crazy ridiculous shit that seems to be popping up these days.  A game like Metal Gear Rising, for example, really turned me off when I heard Raiden say, "Now I just get off to tearing people to shreds," or something to that effect.  It was refreshing when I played Antichamber last night, to see a developer exploring a different realm other than extreme, over-the-top violence.  Also, I agree with your notion of a captive audience.  Truly, we have been captivated by digital violence and game developers notice this.  That's why the preferred medium of expressive thought in video games is violence...

@tgwolf There are human emotions and experiences that are vital to the human condition that are not "pleasant" or "easy". To not express these experiences in media would be a huge fault to mankind. This is true in every medium, from film and literature to video games and other related media. So, if your not "mature" enough to handle it, feel free to engage in something else; however, in order to explore and properly represent the human condition, we need to include things like loss, sorrow, pain, violence, and evil. That is what Bioshock is doing, the same way that books such as "The Cather in the Rye" and "Dracula", or films such as "Saving Private Ryan" do, all of which are considered some of the best works in their fields. The M-rating is a device used by society to protect our children from material they are not ready for, the same way the R-rating protects children from movies featuring "mature" content. Be thankful that these works of art are being reserved for those who are old enough and mature enough to handle them. In the meantime, however, step aside and let the grown ups talk, cause ideas that are as childish, ignorant, and foolish as yours, formed with no basis in content, quality, or literary value, clearly do not belong here.

It maybe was done from scratch, but to me it's not RAPTURE which at the time was very unique. The city could have been made more fluid and not broken into sectors were you jump from place to place like a monkey To me the movement of jumping I mean reminds me of DMC.with a small mix of the old prince of Persia .From there one it looks very well detailed could turn up to be a real good game.it looks like a good mix of new and old characters. In my opinion though I don't drop my trousers for it.

Incredible game. This video shows how teams of Irrational and 2K Games changed the atmosphere with totally different place and I have to forget about Rapture (I still feel bad after I read for first time the information that actions will not continue at Rapture in Third part.)I hope the Third part will prove that changing will provide better gaming experiences and senses. Incredible and astonishing First and Second part so I have good feeling about Third one

Excellent piece Gamespot. This is why I come here. The creative process behind a development team with a coherent and clear vision is extremely interesting and giving. This is exactly what is missing in videogames. There's just too much plagiarism and corporate cowardice running the industry today.

I liked Bioshock because of the dark gritty social-darwinistic world it was. The world felt very true to the post-1900 view on race, ethnicity and the power of man to invent and better itself, without the inconvenience of ethics. Bioshock was a great critique of the perils of pure capitalism and social-darwinistic ideas. Bioshock even made me research Ayn Rand.

This is the most exciting game that will come out in the first part of this year.  This video provides a great explanation of why the developer left the setting of the first 2 games and took to the skies.

I expected nothing less than a new setting. Hell -- for me at least -- if they had gone with Rapture again, it would've been too boring and repetitive (even though Rapture was initially awesome!). I love what they have done here -- fantastic!

I'm sure the developers are both nervous and excited about this game. It took a lot of balls to get rid of rapture. When I heard the news I had the same reaction "How are they gonna have a BioShock game without rapture" but when I saw the teaser trailer it blew my mind. I'm sure the game will be a huge success, another game set in Rapture would have been tedious. I'm glad that the developers took theri time to develope this game, and didn't rush it to make a quick buck.
