This game is not bioshock. It's a game that they use the name to sell a game. If they would have made it as a totally new game and it did well fine. But taking the Bioshock name like this is one huge piss off.
What made Bioshock great was imagination. Making a whole new world with a feeling that comes right out of the Shining's overlook hotel made it a real new, imaginitive game that should go down in game history as one of the best games made.
But this new one will fade fast, it will sell well because it sports the bioshock name but that's it. They just should have made it as it's own game seperate from the Bioshock name but I think this is more about sales and money than making a good game. It's easy to run on low imagination and games that do don't last long and are forgotten fast.
This game is that kind of game. I'll wait a few months until I can get it at half price because it is a half @$$'d game

@Billcat432 It has the Bioshock name because it hold the elements of a Bioshock game.
-Enviroment
-A disturbed feeling throughout
-FPS while integrating the use of something like plasmids
-Relationship between Songbird and Elizabeth is that of a Big Daddy and Little Sister
-Altered history
-etc.
It is worthy imo.

@Billcat432 This would make sense if you were talking about Bioshock 2. Levine didn't want to do a direct sequel in rapture because he felt that all he would be doing is saying the same thing again. This is why the second game was made by an entirely different team and was essentially a "fan-made title. The company that produces Bioshock wanted a second title in Rapture; Levine as well as his team did not because they lacked inspiration. The term "Bioshock" is about a style of gameplay that is also exhibited and then expanded upon in Infinite. Using Bioshock isn't all about the business side, although I'm sure at least some of it is; but it's about an expansion of a gameplay and storytelling style that Levine has helped create.
i just wish they wouldn't follow the usual sequel formula of increasing the blood and gore along with the graphics. It doesn't kill the game for me or anything, i'm going to buy this game asap, but i mean....i don't need to explode a guys head with an early 1900's rifle to have fun in a game...:/
@Blashbuck This "formula" that you speak of is one that ruins potentially great franchises. More gore and more advanced graphics doesn't make a better game. Your opinion of gaming must be pretty low if that's as far as you think this medium can go in terms of the types of stories it can tell. This game has a real theme that, like a good book, you have to read between the lines. They are also using a time in our history that is huge on mystery and myth.
@Blashbuck I dont recall them saying they're going mortal kombat on the formula. It's just a different kind of darkness. Instead of using the actual darkness to set the mood, they are using corruption, and the darkness of the human mind.

i had to stop watching halfway through. i just can't bring myself to spoil this game in any way shape or form. i have been ignoring the details of this game the entire time. only two more months. two months.

I love the idea that rather than witnessing a revolutionary city after its downfall, we witness its actual downfall, and maybe take part in it.

For all those people who are asking about Elizabeth outfit- this is a dress which she wears early in the game. They didn't change the concept.
I wonder if you're going to be the only sane one from the start like in rapture or you'll actually encounter a lot of normal npc's that you can interact with, hmmm.
@alpha_unit97 When Dewitt goes to Columbia, the place is still a city, and it's not a graveyard like Rapture. So there's still people getting on with their life, and yes, people to interact with.

The gaming sites are so stoked about this game. I'm not. I'll prob check it out when it goes on sale for like nothing (See BioShock 2).
@slefo29 what the hell is there to be not stoked about? this looks like the most beautiful, disturbing and original game in a long time
@slefo29 I still haven't played more than a half hour of it, ran crappier than it should have and I could never find a fix

@Shepard_ Its not a new character design this is just what she looks like at the beginning of the game.
Looks awesome! I can't wait. It seems almost dream like that the date it comes out is so soon, especially after all the times it has been pushed back.
That girl looks kinda "Disney"; doesn't seem to jive with the more grim BioShock art style.
The girl looks like a sailor now. Not saying that's bad or anything, just throwing that out there.
@Banjo2E You mean as in "Sailor Moon"? I agree. Anime/manga style seems to be infecting every other genre. I love Japan and lived there for a while, but I don't want to see every possible animated character in every artistic medium turn into a bug-eyed cutesy cartoon.
@Exquisite @Banjo2E I believe that the team stated in another interview that they wanted Elizebeth to be more exaggerated and animated in order to show off a better range of emotions.
