Mass Effect 3 DLC The Reckoning leaked, adds new story-driven co-op modes

Six new missions planned, more weapons for multiplayer

Mass Effect 3 fans have plucked first details of the forthcoming DLC packs from this week's bug fix. God bless developers and their bizarre habit of leaving bits of upcoming content lying around.

As reported by Eurogamer, future Mass Effect 3 expansions will implement a new multiplayer mode which imports data from the single player, including Paragon and Renegade scores, reputation points and your overall progress.

The news corroborates an alleged product listing for Mass Effect 3: Reckoning, posted to Reddit. "The day of reckoning is nigh!" it reads. "The Reckoning Multiplayer Expansion brings six new never before seen co-op story missions to the game and new co-op gameplay modes. It provides four new maps to conquer and hazard variations of the Earth maps.

"It also enables reinforcement packs that offer new kits for the salarians, krogans, humans and volus. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons (Chakram Launcher, Blood Pack Punisher and Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle)."

The above weapons are recent additions to the single-player campaign, but have yet to make the jump to Galaxy at War. Intrepid data-miner TSA_383 has uncovered multiplayer-functional varieties in the update files.

BioWare recently teased new downloadable content for the Mass Effect 3 cosmos. You can see Wrex in the picture there.

  1. One of these days we'll have a story that says revealed rather than leaked. There's so many leaks in the gaming industry we would have enough for some food pun using leeks.

Co-op story missions? For real? Very interested in this, I predicted they'd take the ME series down this route in the sequel, but dlc could be very interesting indeed!!

  2. With annoying co-op achievements to boot i'd imagine. There goes my 100% completion unless I find a friend willing to conquer them with me

You can play as a volus in multiplayer? Since when? IF THERE IS A GOD, THIS WILL NOT BE A TYPO!

  4. Since may last year I think!

  5. I guess if a game suits co-op it would be this one. Suppose using dlc for it rather than a whole game is a decent way to test the waters.

Volus have been around since Retaliation in September.

Regarding the DLC, I find the co-op story missions unlikely, as the devs have stated several times that new game modes can't be added. However, it is possible that they found a way.

  7. Hopefully we can play them solo, like we can with the co-op now. Hopefully they'll be easier to solo as well... or less boring.

Can't say I'm a fan of seeing Mass Effect going more and co-op though, I'd rather have better singleplayer content.

    Very rare mind.

  8. Looks like this update has caused more bug than it has fixed. In one game I encountered the following:
    1. Dropship remained on map permanently
    2. Enemies randomly jumped around the map
    3. Partners appeared to walk in the same direction permanently
    4. Immortal Nemesis
    5. Inability to gain cover
    6. Turned completely invisible to the naked eye
    7. Guns refused to fire

It was like I was on acid or something :|

Regardless, looking forward to this DLC, new modes look really interesting.

Anyone else thinking that the Multiplayer is just a test for them to see how an MMO would pan out, i mean they keep adding new power combos in the characters, added new ranking systems and now they appear to be making it story driven as well.

    Got's me thinking :?:

  9. Enjoy the latest 'overpowered' gun, the Adas Anti-Synthetic rifle, before its imminent nerfing. It'll be a pain in the backside to teammates thanks to its screen-shaking effect.

Co-op story? Can't we just kill some enemies together? If there's story to be had in a Mass Effect game I'll enjoy it as I have done from the beginning - alone.

  10. Why cant we have separate Multiplayer and singleplayer? why does EAware feel the need to use green space magic on the them, I like MY Multiplayer games not having an effect on my single player games like the frakking EMS thing, and vice versa.
of course its EA mandate to have multiplayer and bloody microtransactions shoehorned in, you know what we had in my day when when when we wanted to use the good stuff in a game? or wanted to skip a level because it was Irritating? Cheat codes, which were free and not being offered offered for money like EAs doing these days, I really hate where videogames are heading these days I really do!

  11. Frankly nothing appeals to me more than a full co-op experience set in the Mass Effect universe, it recalls fond memories of Phantasy Star Online. I appreciate people like their single player, and I do too to an extent - I wouldn't want co-op in DmC for example - but in a game like this where you already have squad mates it seems like a no-brainer.

It should wait until the next game though, and be done properly, with character arcs and suchlike. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly.

  12. This may bring me back to Mass Effect for a short while. After completing the campaign twice, I felt no more need to save the galaxy

Interesting to see how the co-op will turn out and wether it will carry on to Mass Effect 4.
