Lord of the Rings: Guardians of Middle Earth

A load of Bilbo Bobbins

Games like DOTA 2 and League of Legends have taken PC gaming by storm, but MOBA games have yet to hit it big on Xbox Live. The notoriously fiddly genre revolves around two teams of players with specific skills trying to fight each other across three different lanes, destroying the other team's defences in the process.

Lord of the Rings: Guardians of Middle Earth

I really enjoy it. I don't see a problem with the presentation and I'd say it's rather deep when you get into editing loadouts for each character - choosing/placing relics and gems on the belt, along with selecting 4 potions & commands. Much deeper than either Awesomenauts or Monday Night Combat in my opinion, neither of which were criticised for for lack of depth (I don't think anyway).

The connection problems are the only negative for me and they're getting worse, I've stopped playing until the patch is released.

I may be slightly bias, though; I LOVE LotR, so love the characters and maps by default and I'm one of the veterans ruining it for the new players...

I used up the rest of my trial time earlier this week but from what I've played I'd probably give it a 7/8. As schwepter said the relics and gems add a ton of depth to it and there's a good selection of characters to choose from, they all seem pretty unique as well. The only thing that's stopping me from buying it at the moment is the connection problems but a lot of people on the game's forums seem to think the lag and wait times have improved since the recent patch.

You mean the compatibility download? That made things worse for me - I can now be in a lag free match and be disconnected after 10 minutes for no apparent reason. As far as I know the matchmaking update is yet to come, I haven't been prompted to update, anyway.

I love Lord Of The Rings to bits but this game is, in my opinion, pretty poor.
