Sleeping Dogs 2 for Xbox 720? United Front hires for "world class" next gen multiplayer

OXM sources point to London, Moscow or Mexico City

Sleeping Dogs developer United Front has an iron or two in the fire it hasn't told you about. As spotted by NeoGAF, the developer seeks a network programmers "to develop the multiplayer features of our next gen console title".

Here's the listing in full: "we are looking for an experienced network programmer to work with our online team to develop the multiplayer features of our next gen console title. The candidate must have solid C++ programming experience, understanding of network programming models, excellent communication ability, and a passion for creating world class online titles.

"The ideal candidate will also have been credited on several console titles, worked with multiplayer middleware packages, and have experience with state replication, interpolation, bandwidth optimization, and knowledge of common multiplayer features such as matchmaking, invites, game lobbies, leader boards, stats, etc."

Sleeping Dogs was a critical success, attracting a 9/10 from our very own Log, and has shipped 1.5 million units worldwide as of September 2012. According to United Front's Dan Sochan (via OPM), Square Enix have always "believed in this game as a potential franchise".

Allow us to season the rumour not with a pinch of salt, but a splash of our very own speculation-sauce. According to one of OXM's industry contacts, Sleeping Dogs 2 is very much a real thing, and could take place in either London, Moscow or Mexico City.

    Sleeping Dogs was one of my surprise highlights of last year, so I'll definately be happy to see more. However the unusual setting was one of the things I liked so not sure if I'd like a change from Hong Kong

    Same as cunning, it should stay there or somewhere similar, Tokyo maybe at most. Despite playing after everyone who said 'it was surprising how good it was' I was still very surprised at how good it was. Maybe I thought you were all liars, gypsies, tramps and thieves.

    Interesting news. I've got Sleeping Dogs on standby and will be starting that next, after I finish off Fallout New Vegas
