@philcelica Depends on the screen you're playing on and how bright you have it set in the game settings. On default setting from both my TV and game, it was much darker than this, but still adequate for playing.

On the eve of Dead Space 3's release, we hang out with the game's producer John Calhoun to walk us through the recently released demo to get some behind the scenes insight, chat about microtransactions and more!
let me guess ... items that you can purchase with real money for the game ? suck my epic ass EA .
@20years Yes, but the price is in cents, not dollars, and it's small things like upgrades, for those that don't want to take the time to find this stuff on their own in-game. It being inessential to playing the game should make it readily apparent that this thing just doesn't matter. I mean, you'd truly have to be nit-picky to be bothered by such a thing.
As long as I can find what I need, I 'll get the game, if not no way. I loved the other two and would hate to miss out on this one.
Absolutely loved Dead Space 1 & 2. I do hope that 3 will also be great, though I was hardly impressed by the demo.
@cyclode34 Yeah I agree, the demo was so not inspiring in any way. Yet, I do recall not liking the demo for DS2, and then loving the final product... Let's hope is the same deal with DS3, and the demo is just a poorly elected portion of the game.
@Micro_mas Optional...what does that word mean, kiddo? =) So what if the casual players want to pay extra? It doesn't affect you in the slightest. Its not a competitve multiplayer game so your complaints are silly. Its not required to complete the game.
dead space for me oh yes, enjoyed playing dead space one & two ,looking forward for dead dpace 3
The demo review was great, but I could hardly hear John speaking because the sound of the game was much loader.
Ea exec: "In a poll we found that people like crafting, so add crafting."
Dev: "But it doesn't make any sense here, it's a survival horror shooter, not an RPG."
Ea exec: "So your'e not going to add that?"
He gave really good reasons for these changes. Instead of trying to be funny actually listen to the interview :)
Man, I thought the demo for this was fantastic! I loved the cliffhanger ending too. I can't wait for this. :)
I find myself not even particularly interested in renting this game. And I'm sure I'd actually have to buy it to play the coop (being an EA game). And microtransactions? Good lord...
@Atheosis He clearly explains the reason for them in the video, try listening. Its not a competitive game so its not going to affect you in the slightest. Get over yourself and let the "casuals" pay extra if they want to.
@Atheosis That is pretty much how most games are these days, (except the micro transactions) you can't play multi player without an outline account and that goes for almost all games on PC.
next level Pseudo walkthrough:
After this demo you will have to open a door to some station (use the mastercard to bypass the door.)
Inside de station :
quicktime event1 : ABBBBBAC
quicktime event2 : B (wait ) (wait) B
Then you must get out. (Just run to to train that looks like an american express)
Done
Well, let's see, how to say this tactfully...Okay! Doom was the last good space-zombie game, and you'll notice it was also the first??
@Bhemont Ni no Kuni! For so many reasons! You wouldn't want the stigma of buying into some zombie-zombie-zombie-etc fad, would you? Years from now when the craze dies down you will look back on games like this and just hide yourself for weeks at a time in shame...Something to think about!
For the life of me I can't decide if I should buy this game or not. I mean I love Dead Space, but have the changes made this a simple action game with mutants and humans to shoot? And what of the blood? is there no blood spray in this game? Anyone know?
@fishforme2 "...Blood-splatter effects occur when characters incur damage, and some environments depict blood-splattered floors and mutilated bodies; enemies can be seen impaled, decapitated, and dismembered during the game."

There is blood in the game. Maybe it was just toned down for the demo?
@fishforme2 Not sure on that I would imagine so will have to wait and see. The guy was saying they took a lot of stuff out for the demo but I can't imagine blood would be one of them. Of course when your fighting outside it looks cold as hell so maybe blood freezes soon as you shoot someone? I'm sure it wouldn't in RL but this is a game afterall.
@Greyslay @fishforme2 There is plenty of blood in this video, for example at 2:40.
The demo had too many cutscenes with silly quicktime events and too many other people running around for it to feel scary or lonely. That's the only reason I would come to DS in the first place. The "Resident Evil effect" in action, clearly.
@Keeper_Artemus Uh...if you watched the video you would know that he said that the demo is not indicative of the live game because they created it to show you a little of dead space 3 without ruining the storyline. In other words....there wont be that many cutscenes back to back and if its like dead space 2 that means the quicktime events are scattered throughout the game not back to back.
@Keeper_Artemus You clearly didn't watch the whole video. He said many times that the demo is different from the real levels. Its put together so we see all the different aspects of the game quickly.
