EA reveals 'Madden 25'

Latest gridiron game hits the field August 27; could be Madden NFL 14 sister product or rebrand of franchise to mark 25th anniversary.

Electronic Arts has announced that the next entry in the Madden series will land August 27. Interestingly, the game may not be called Madden NFL 14, but rather Madden 25.

According to the official announcement, more information on Madden 25 is coming soon. No platforms for the game were announced.

Nowhere on the page is Madden NFL 14 listed, indicating Madden 25 could be a sister product to Madden NFL 14 or a full-on rebrand to mark the franchise's 25th anniversary.

An EA representative was not immediately available to comment.

The latest entry in the series--Madden NFL--sold 1.65 million copies during its first week, up 8 percent year-over-year. GameSpot's review found it to be a competent yearly update, with old issues returning and little significant innovation over last year's iteration.

Make a allstar rooster for each team or pick out the best team for each would be good.67 packers vs 68 jets some old teams with jim thorpe, night train lane and so on.

Or, knowing EA, it could be NFL 13 with a different logo on it. They have done that in the past.

I think shooter type games don't inspire the real world shootings, its the Madden franchise. This is what our "elected" officials should be looking into.

Knowing EA since Fifa International Soccer on the Sega Genesis, considering they also created Fifa 94 and 95 on the same console, they will do everything they can special (like they haven't) to make this title stand out from the rest!

I had the original as a kid for DOS.  I don't think I ever got it to work though, and I probably had better football games.

If  the 2K series was still alive, Madden would've suffered the same fate as NBA Live. I guarantee it folks. There is no doubt in my mind.

@huerito323 If they would have continued to update it.  If the product was the same, like the last 2K and All-Pro 2K8, I don't think it would have doomed Madden.

be kinda interesting to collect all the ea sports games, so cheap and plentiful

If they do that, then what will they call the real Madden 25? XD

If I remember correctly...I remember hearing about EA giving up its exclusive license or they were going to let it expire. All I know and want is the return of NFL 2K14-15 !!

I remember NFL2k9 with ESPN integrated on the PS2...Every so often I find myself dusting off the PS2 just to play it and it is just as awesome as I remember it. 2K dominated EA for those few years in the football video game battle. I hope 2K reboots the franchise if EA fumbles the ball on the license.

@Biggilly216 EA had a choice to drop either NCAA or NFL licensed games. They obviously dropped NCAA as it was less profitable. Even if they do drop it,  that does not mean that 2k would scoop it up necessarily either

@Biggilly216 Part of me died when 2k sports lost their NFL licence. Nothing was  better than NFL 2k2 on the Dreamcast. The gameplay was great and being able to pick plays on the VMU was a godsend. Oh Dreamcast, you truly were the best failed console.

Ayato_Kamina_1

@Biggilly216Agreed! But I don't see EA loosening their grip on it. Madden is one of their biggest selling titles year to year.

Go away Madden! Damn you and your exclusive license! You ruined football gaming. Keep claiming that you sold X number of copies of the game. Let's see if those numbers stand when there's some competition.

Here's a thought, stop making the damn game every year. You don't drink milk drop by drop, fill up the damn glass before you sell it. And milking the cow is all they do.

I hope you people are this hard on 2K as well when their basketball game reaches a signficant anniversary.  They are guilty of the exact same **** as EA, only they never get called out for doing the same crap.

You people will either call them out on THEIR crap when the time comes, or you will all be a bunch of goddamned hypocrites.  Make your choice...

@kungfuj0 2k didn't buy a monopoly, they just blew everyone else out of the water so badly that they don't bother trying to make a game... slight difference there.

QingJao86
QingJao86

@Celsius765 @COPMAN221ISBACK Everyone admits that 2K baseball sucks... the thing is A) they didn't buy the monopoly, Sony did, and B ) I am more than sure that Sony is willing to let EA make a baseball game, if Sony frees up the NFL license, think EA is game?

Charv24
Charv24

@QingJao86 @Celsius765 @COPMAN221ISBACK There's a problem with your logic: 2K did buy the license, not Sony. The license is for 3rd party MLB games (which is why Sony can still make a - much better - exclusive title) 2K is backing out of baseball games once their license is up.

I will say what I say every year. "Maybe they fixed it, maybe it won't suck"

Then it comes out and it sucks. This generation has been terrible for Madden, just pitiful.

@DarkSaber2k @Chaos_Dante_456 @ScreamDream I rented FIFA 12. What a joke. EA makes complete garbage now. I returned it to gamefly after about 30 minutes of navigating endless menus and pop-ups.

Chaos_Dante_456
Chaos_Dante_456

@DarkSaber2k @Chaos_Dante_456 @ScreamDream Wow I didn't know that. That's crazy, I'm still tripping on the scam of reselling the exact same game yearly for full price with a slight update. We talk about COD but atleast that offers a new campaign.

I always thought they should tak advantage of DLC in the form of updating the roster yearly for maybe about $20 as opposed to a new $60 game annually. but is suppose why do that when they can rake in the big bucks
