DS Gets Another Fire Emblem Remake

First Super Famicom entry in the strategy franchise being brought back on the DS.

Nintendo updated the Fire Emblem official site today with some big news for fans of the classic strategy gaming series. DS will be getting a new Fire Emblem game in Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu (Mystery of the Emblem: Hero of Light and Shadow).

The DS's first Fire Emblem game, released overseas as Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, was a remake of the very first Famicom Fire Emblem. The new game appears to be along the same lines as that, only this time a remake of the third entry in the series, 1994's Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo.

That third entry, the first Super Famicom entry in the series, consisted of a remake of the Famicom original and an all new sequel. Since the DS already has a remake of the original, it's likely the new title will be based entirely off the sequel part of the Super Famicom title.

It's unclear what will be new for the remake, but you can see a trailer at the Fire Emblem official site, or streamed here:

News of the new Fire Emblem game came as part of an update at the Fire Emblem site that read "It's been 20 years since the first Fire Emblem game was born. We've told the story of a number of heroes. We feel that you the player, who lead and supported [those heroes] are shadow heroes."
