Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo hits Xbox Live

Kojima's franchise comes over all Ninja Raiden - play the results

Konami's Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo is now available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace, providing you're an Xbox Live Gold subscriber. It's 1.84 GB in size, and is absolutely the safest, easiest way to vent any anti-social yearnings for the sight of neatly chopped flesh.

Not an Xbox Live Gold subber? Fear not, miserly one, for this appears to be the same demo Matt and Log had their merry way with last November, which means you can watch a video of the whole thing with commentary below.

  1. Don't you just love being able to download demos for all the latest games straight onto your console and try them out whenever you want? Before the Xbox we never used to have that opportunity. The only demos we could play on consoles were a select few that came on a demo disc with a magazine once a month. Being able to choose which demos you download is revolutionary. Gaming has come a long way in the past decade or so.

  2. I dont no what to make of this one,ive always liked mgs for the stealth and all,but as i said,i do not no about this. Its been a bad week, log put me off omerta, the demo put me of dead space, and now this.My last hope is aliens.

  3. I suppose it's my duty as a gamer to at least try the old Metal Gear games. Oh, look, they're doing a HD collection... :)

  4. Doing? It's been out a year!

I'll give the demo a go but I doubt it'll sway me, as much of a badass cyborg Raiden is he will never not be an androgynous whiny bastard. Plus I am not fond of hack n slash.

If it helps Dead Space 2 had a dreadful demo but was quite a good game. Wait for a couple of reviews/opinions of the full game before you get too down hearted.

  6. I've only ever played a bit of the first metal gear, and yes I feel asleep....I'll get the hd collection but I couldn't even bring myself to get the demo of this, just didn't interest me. Maybe I'll take another look in a years time if it reviews well.

Tried the dead space demo, was ok, more or less same as before but white rather than black. Did like the weapon crafting, didn't like universal ammo.

  7. Just played it and I don't think I've ever been so impressed by a demo on the 360. The engine is rock solid, with no tearing, very little slowdown and only a mild case of texture pop-in. Capcom take note.

The controls are responsive, but mapping the parry command to an attack button? Not cool. Blade mode is a delight, though, once you stop trying to use the right stick to swing the sword, like in Dead Island. Tapping the stick in the direction you want to slice is the right way to do it.

  8. Well , that was an infuriating half hour. All the polish and graphical finesse in the world can't save a hack and slaher that:

    A) Doesn't have a dodge button. Or failing that:

    B) Tags the counter / parry button to your main f**king attack button!

What the hell man , I mean it's not as if there arn't enough buttons on the pad , the "B" is sitting there through the entire thing like a spare f**king part! Honestly It turns what should be a great boss battle into a complete shambles.

  9. Looks great but not my cup of tea at all, think i will give this a miss.

I want an Aliens colonial marines demo please!

  10. Thanks for msbhvn and Mav for demonstrating perfectly that you can't please everyone
