It's not that the Kinect will always be watching/listening. I couldn't care less about that and it doesn't bother me. I just feel like it's still really gimmicky and unnecessary. Maybe it's because I'm not used to it, but I feel like navigating the Xbox One with just a controller would be much faster than waving your hands around like an idiot.
And yes, there is a mic built into the Kinect, but it's hard to hear people talking through your TV speakers most of the time because the game gets in the way.
I feel like a Kinect-less version of the Xbox One would go a long way. If there were a bundle like the PS4: A $399 Xbox One, game, and year of Xbox Live I would probably preorder it again. Right now, though, $500 for a gaming console alone is way too much.
