Konami Battle the Best contains seventeen tracks of pure Konami goodness. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Konami is the best developer when it comes to music in action games. Their distinct power-rock style is definitely distinguishable from the rest of the pack. Konami Battle the Best mixes old and new tracks alike, and surprisingly, I actually prefer the music from the older games such as Dracula (Castlevania) and Super Contra. Also of note is "Calling from Heaven", which deviates from the power-rock style and instead offers a slow, haunting ballad with a melody that is unforgettable. The other tracks were pretty cool as well. My only gripe is that if you're a fan of Konami's games you may be a little irked by how the music was changed when arranged. For instance, when you start to get into "Bloody Tears", and you know what the next note is going to be, they deviate and throw in a wild distortion guitar. Oh well... I suppose this is one reason why the OSV CDs are actually better at times.

The most complete collection of awesome Japanese power rock - Konami style!

Konami Battle the Best is a collection of greatest hits from the very popular Japanese music series known as "Konami Battle." This CD includes seventeen tracks from various Konami games like Gradius 3, Snatcher, Dracula X and Xexex; all in the traditional techno/thrash style of the Battle series. It contains two new songs not available on any other Battle CD and many of the older songs have some new touches. Any person who likes Konami music should order this CD immediately! In fact, anyone with a pulse should at least consider it! This CD is truly a must buy, for any game music fan.
