DmC: Devil May Cry is out, and some people are none too happy about it. Johnny throws himself headlong into the comments section to see what you've been saying.
in all honesty: first, combat system not that bad; wish they put more emphasis on the shooting aspect and wtf no auto lock? additionally the devil trigger was a sad joke in comparison to previous games in the DMC series. the level design was exceptional as well as the boss battles. the revamped story was quite better than previous DMC games, however; the story suffers at the hands of characters who lack any true depth in comparison to the traditional characters of the previous DMC games. if only i had cared for Dante as i had in previous games, and if his personality and appearance mirrored his previous persona this game would have been far better. so ninja theory, this angered fan played your game and in all honesty it was not that bad overall, but this reboot killed the series for me. maybe if the game was called "apathetic emo kid vs Bill O'Reilly" i wouldn't mind so much, but this new Dante is is simply un-enjoyable and a total let down, at least i can say that the new DMC killed my child hood less than that piece of shit DBZ kinect game did.
So many people complaining more about how the character looks than how the game plays. In my opinion you have to change things after a while or the franchise will stagnate and people will chastise it because of that. However, am I the only person that things the new Dante looks like the dude who played Anakin Skywalker?
Nothing wrong here,Played so many games after the first DMC That I don"t remember the style of his hair and it does not bother me the Game is awesome though..My Score 9 out of 10.
The fast past, ass kicking, stylistic gameplay is intact, and even ARGUABLE better then in previous games. THAT IS WHAT MATTERS!!! Not the fact that he looks different, or you don't like the story. Which i do. The difficulty level for the hardcore DMC fan, like myself, is ABSOLUTELY intact as well. For crying out loud haters, they give you 7 difficulty levels to chose from. If your playing on HELL and HELL and saying it is to easy, your an F-ing liar liar and i hope your pants catch FIRE!!!
this dante actually looks like something i want to play and the old ones were good but this looks just as good. oh well haters gonna hate
I am currently playing this game, which I am currently enjoying it cant see what all the haters are carrying on about
@zico_mahilary @bacchj which they will probably release a classic costume in the costume DLC pack coming out on the 27th anyways
I agree that the emo kid makeover ain't cool.
If they can't give us the Dante we know and love (platinum hair, red coat, dude-ish attitude) then I can't give them my f___in' money.
Frankly it doesnt matter if this new dmc is good or great or whatever. It doesnt matter if the combat kicks ass or if the voice acting is above average. The quality of the game has nothing to do with it. The reason for all the criticism is that the new developer basically butchered the main characters of the series. You cant change the look of the main characters to the point of actually making them completely different people, and still say its the same character, thats just stupid. In my opinion, it looks like a case of a new developer thinking they knew better than the previous one whats best, and decided to "fix" things. The silliest part of it was that there was nothing wrong with the original Dante, or the previous games in the series, as evidenced by the positive reviews. So why was it necessary to completely trash the established main character styles that had come to represent the series? I guess only the sub-par ninja theory knows that.
It's pretty funny when you watch these videos. People say REALLY stupid things when they're mad.
people really hate change and just complain. sheesh, the game looks awesome and the art is pretty good. it has a story compared to the past dmc's with random pieces in it, and i think if dante grew up he'd look the same dante as before, with a few changes.
Just beat it - it was awesome. Don't believe the fanboys who are saying otherwise. It's a new take on Devil May Cry and it works as well as the original series. In addition to that it feels fresh, while maintaining the spirit and gameplay of the original series. The story is better, the acting is better and the art direction is some of the best of any modern action game. The amount of collectibles really encourage replay value too. Ninja Theory did really, really well.
@grey_fox1984 I beg to differ. The game itself shows Dante smoking, badass but it really is not, although this might encourage people to smoke or to smoke more. Vergil however for a user of a samurai sword such as the Yamato dishonors as a samurai or a samurai sword user for his actions are quite cruel and dishonorable later in the game. Whoever made this totally just don't know how to make the series go on.
@foxfacer2d2 @grey_fox1984 ....so no villain is ever allowed to use a samurai sword?
As for smoking- not a reason to criticize the game. Solid Snake has smoked in every Metal Gear game, the dude from Vanquish is a bonafide chimney and at the end of the day, if people make the dumb decision to smoke, it's their choice and shouldn't be blamed on a video game (the same argument could be made to say those people should not watch any movie/tv show made before 1998)
@foxfacer2d2 And for the record- i don't even remember seeing him smoking in the game, so if it does happen in the game, it is such a minor detail that it didn't even register with me.
didn't people freak out about the new look for the legend of zelda wind waker too? once people played it they realized it was great! maybe they should play it before complaining...
Well, there's at least some good news for the ones whining about his hair style. Apparently, there's going to be Dante's DMC3 outfit in the costume pack.
@constantin Because if they're played right, they cease to be button smashers, and become button dancers.
I've played this game, so far it's exactly the same as the others, Dante just looks different . In fact in my opinion it's better. The storyline of the original games was a complete mess. The combat in DmC is simple and fast paced, the characters are great, voice acting and story was good too. I don't see the problem, if people claim to be a true Devil May Cry fan then they will enjoy this game and play it for hours and hours, get over the fact Dante looks different, grow some balls and grow the BEEP up.
@StarlightHunter I don't know how you can think this DmC is better than the others? If you have played the others there would be no way you could say that. This game is junk compared to the other games. Have you played 1 and 3? LOL
I don't care about his hair or looks... its the bad combat and controls. Too many changes for the worse. You suck, Ninja Theory. I hope Capcom learned their lesson with trusting you.
@Kabbalistica @StarlightHunter Kabbalistica appears to be another typical DMC fanboy, calling this new game junk without giving a valid critique of the game at hand, other than "bad combat and controls". Next time u bash something atleast back ur statement, in what way are the controls and combat bad. If u call urself a true hack n slash fan, which u clearly arent and played action titles (GOW, Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta) other than ur beloved DMC, u would know that this new installment stands on its own as a solid Hack n slash with a functional and rewarding combat system. It is significantly different from the DMC series, but that does not make it bad, its still a good game.
@Prats1993 @Kabbalistica @StarlightHunter INCOMING WALL OF TEXT!
Prats seems to be the only one who makes sense xD. This game, yes, sucks as a DMC but a great hack and slash. As for bad combat and controls? Lolnotreally. Only complaint about combat is that there is only a tiny handful of enemies and the only variation is that they only take damage from Angel and Demonic specific weapons with what seems like a single new skill. Also the fact that there are only 5 bosses in the game is kinda disappointing. You would think that they would try to make more bosses than the first game...not the same. Difficulty was pitiful even on hard. I had no trouble at all until club and its boss. Which after two times of dying I realized it had the same four moves that were insanely easy to dodge. Last boss? A Fudging joke. Now I did not play HvHell or HellvHell because I couldn't put myself through another playthrough. Story was mediocre at best. There is no ground-breaking plot line here at all, not a good plot twist at all (If you know anything about DMC you knew that was going to happen >.>), and the story was short and lacked any means of drawing me into the game and drived me to keep playing. Hell, the only thing that kept me playing was the fact that it is a DMC game so I had to see how it was and the decent combat system.
All in all I would probably give it a 6(7 if I am feeling generous)/10. If you are a true fan of the DMC series I say give it a shot but don't have high hopes of an amazing Dante that you are used to. Instead prepare for flying towards and pulling enemies to you a crap ton(Not saying this is bad, I actually enjoyed it) and many cinematic that easily could have been actual gameplay.
One last remark too, I F@&#ING HATE!!!!! how during battles when they brought more enemies into the brawl, the camera always zoomed in to a surprised Dante! Broke up the combat so frequently and is completely unnecessary.
@Kabbalistica @StarlightHunter Kabbalistica your bugging this is the best DMC yet. I loved DMC 1 and 3. I destroyed both games and know them inside and out. This game is awesome. the combat is good, you probably just suck at it. There is way more opportunity to do some amazing combos in this game. On top of the stellar combat is an engrossing story. As good as DMC 1 and 3 were the story was BALLS. I didn't play DMC 1 and 3 for the story i played it for the game play. Now the new DMC has the best of both worlds. A good story and gameplay to back it up. I suggest Kabalistica go to training, maybe then you might change your mind.
Welcome back Feedbackula!
My fellow Americans. As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball. But
tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward;
and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!
I'm starting to like Feedbackula show alot! As for DmC, I haven't play the game yet. I enjoyed previous DMC games. But, not an huge fan of the story & Dante at all. The game is getting good reviews so far. So, what's the problem? I just feel that gaming community complains over small things far too much these days.
What's with the English accent all over the media??? Once in a while it's eccentric, but more than that it's scary. The world is used to the "American English", so dudes, just keep your accent little down.
Which genius felt the need to put a "Sign out" option, under the profile right above the text box?
Ha ha. That was just a tad excessive, but entertaining. Especially the voices and styles used to read the posts, very good. Pleases continue to abuse the spastic flamer trolls!
They think the backlash is unreasonable, but I challenge you to imagine how you'd feel if they decided to reboot God of War. Ohhhh the backlash there would be then haha
