The Boy Just Doesn't Learn
The new season begins this Sunday in the U.S., so if you're already in the know, please humor us as we indulge in this latest round of “What to Expect When You’re Expecting Downton Abbey Season 3.”
Sometimes we just can't help but enjoy those wannabe classics as much as their more prestigious counterparts.
Grab your finest Christmas Ale (or a tall glass of ice-cold 2% milk) and join us in reveling in television's tried-and-true Christmas programming traditions.
And so, Season 3 of The Voice drew to an utterly predictable close, complete with free Kias for our finalists and Cee Lo Green dressed as the funkiest Santa ever.
Sue's blatant invocation of this episode's chosen tribute pretty much summed it up: “It’s where several separate storylines are sandwiched together between commercial breaks and then tied together at the end with a beautiful bow. Like that movie Love, Actually, which I don’t think anyone really cares for.”
While this episode managed to avoid the worst of the Christmas cliches with its hypothetical elf slaughter and Santa's cannon-wielding cameo in Sheldon’s nightmares, it instead fell into a pile of its own series staples, for better or worse.
"Santa" was almost as exhausting to watch as hitting three holiday parties in one night, but it was also just as satisfying as getting pulled over by Black Santa, mending a bad breakup, or happily shooting your eye out with that Red Rider BB gun just like your parents warned that you would.
This week's single elimination was a bummer for sure, but not an unexpected one.

Straightforward stories and a noticeable lack of Penny/Leonard relationship drama made for a second straight week of awesomeness on The Big Bang Theory.
Once again, the Winchester brothers appear to be on the outs, but this time it feels sincere, timely, and appropriate.
While offset by a heavy dose of slapstick, New Girl's two will-they-won't-they relationships both leaned toward "won't they" this week.

I had hoped that Quinn's return would bring with it an attitude adjustment of the most epic proportions for stupid, terrible Kitty. Instead, sadly, Quinn fell for her charms.
Sheldon and Howard's fight over a parking space was never about the space itself, it was about Sheldon being the “better” of the two guys.
